Jesus that crash.. spot on analysis, reminds me of the time I got blown into a lamppost by a sudden gust of wind and suffered a concussion. I barely even hit it and at a much lower speed. Terrifying, broken jaw you say? I hope that's all

In every race we see some stupid shit and UCI does nothing about it. Unprotected lamp post 300 m to the finish line. Cmon... are you serious? Also no penalties for behaving reckless, looking around etc. And in a month or so UCI will come out with some stupid rule without any baseground. Like the no puppy paws and the no Mohorič position rule. AAAAAA. It is just so frustrating.

If it's a tailwind and Merlier makes it a long, hard one, with a strong initial acceleration, that's actually hard to do. Not surprising Groenewegen didn't have an extra kick left after a crosswind stage.

Horrible crash to watch, I'm with you re the temp bans, but I also think that they should be giving yellow cards for stuff like that when it doesn't cause a crash (to some extent the crashing is random depending on what riders are doing around them) so maybe they need to just start handing out yellow cards when riders do something that *could* cause a crash rather than waiting for someone to hit the deck Also, I've seen cones/protection for lampposts, there was a guy who went headfirst into one last year, but there was a big yellow bumper on it and he bounced off and was fine, maybe something should be protecting riders from lamp posts in the last few km?

Again, Lappartient... what is he doing, all his spiel and patter about cycling safety... the only thing he does is putting his face infront of cameras. doing nothing for the safety of riders. only when the world champion is effected, he will move. what a shame, a shame for cycling. In the german livestream the commentators obsessively question Kristoff's weight being the reason for all the punctures he's suffering which I find heavily inappropriate. He's what, 78kg? That's not heavy at all for a big sprinter. What's your take on this?
@l.d.t.6327
@l.d.t.6327 6 күн бұрын
Kristoff always looked heavy, except when he won Tour of Flanders. But even after that race and with many people having written him off, he keeps on winning races. Not the big ones, but he can get over small hills much better than you'd think if you see him on a bike.

Lanterne (or anyone): I understand the danger of that Caja Rural rider’s look behind him, but could someone explain why Bert’s look over the shoulder ( 6:38 ) is different? Is it just about whether a rider is speeding up or slowing down when they check over their shoulder? It seems like people look over their shoulder all the time and I guess I’m just wondering when it’s safe and when it isn’t.

The frequency of punctures in the pro ranks is a mystery to me. You're on closed, swept roads and never on a tire with age or wear. Is it all pinch flats as the peloton blindly pile drives through potholes and road furniture?

Sorry you can't ban some one for looking around, the sprint lead out men do it a lot , i mean were does it stop, , yes it can be reckless, so the uci will have to start a rule were everyone with say 2 km to go Must be looking straight ahead at all times, then if that's the case all ' sprint' stages need to finish on a 2 km straight road, oh and while we are at it the organisers need to have designated sprnt lanes painted on the road with 2 k to go and there will only be 10 lanes ,so only the top 10 ranked sprinters teams are allowed to enter those lanes with 2 k to go , were does it stop , yes some riders probably shouldn't be mixing it up in sprint finshes cos the lack the experience or skill , if you want to go down the ' dangerous ' riding rabbit hole, i think maybe the commissioners look at tape of the finish rule a rider was endangering fellow riders, then there whole team gets 30 to 90 seconds taken of G.C times , can you imagine the conversation from your gc leader that you jus lost him or her the Giro or the tour even Paris Nice because you stuffed up in a sprint stage

A month ban is nowhere near enough for that. Also that's a basic lack of riding skills ... Inexperienced beginners drift in the opposite direction when looking over their shoulders. One of the first things you need to learn not to do when riding in traffic or at speed in a group.
