From the summer of 1994, this was my introduction to the writer Harlan Ellison. I was an intern on Snyder's show that summer, and Ellison blew into the studio like a force of nature. I made it a point to get to know the man and his work. Apologies for the poor video quality.

Harlan Ellison speechless. Tom got him that time. You can tell the friendship was genuine and heartfelt.

I love those 2 men. Harlan was so beautifully thunderstruck. It was a beautiful experience.

What a beautiful thing. I had tears in my eyes when Tom brought out the painting and said, simply, "It's yours."

Not only did Tom Snyder nailed Harlan with his gift, he nailed me as well! I reacted exactly as Harlan did!

I'd forgotten that Snyder had a prime time show on CNBC in the '90's... But I've never forgotten how absolutely electric these two were, going all the way back to the "TOMORROW" show in the '70's, every time they were together. What a great way to spend some time.

You were very fortunate to intern for a classic like Tom Snyder and get introduced to Harlan that way. Timeless. Thanks!

This was a great interviewe!! Ellison is endlessly interesting and Tom was the perfect guy to bring us this masterpiece. It is such a shame that there is no Tom Snyder, or anyone like him, anymore. We get fed 3-4 minute interviews that are interrupted by 2-3 commercial breaks, so essentially, nothing. Tom was so good at his job, never talked down to his callers and friends, had a great sense of humor, was sharp as could be, and he is sorely missed.

When I learned that Tom was leaving the airwaves forever, it was crushing. He'd been on my TV since the '70s. I began missing him immediately. And then I thought: I'm never going to see Harlan Ellison again either. Together they were a trip. Thank you for posting this.

It must have been doing the rounds back then. I did library studies in '93 and heard the term being used then in a conversation between two co-students who worked in a university library.

Considering that Harlan was not a computer person, it was even more prescient of him to use the term.
