@@ieronimo18 Of course he saw himself as a grammar expert. He admonished Johnny Carson and Al Michaels on 2 occasions in the use of who/whom when asking a question. Carson - a smart man himself who had been to college - said Cosell was wrong (with a reason) the following day on the *Tonight Show* . Cosell's 'extraordinary vocabulary' consisted of using 3, 4, 5+ syllable words completely out of context in many examples. Cosell was a former NYC lawyer and not an unintelligent man.

Boy, Cosell had a concept almost 50 years ago about what we now struggle with which is the almost end of free broadcast sports. You can't watch baseball without paying for a subscription service and the NFL is quickly moving into pay per view games on an increasing basis. NBA has escaped so far but will soon I'm sure be a part of it too. Howard had a great knowledge and a business understanding that was, and is still lacking in most sports announcers/analysts.

I don't think the announcers are about to bite the hand that feeds them.

Cosell promoted the notion of social justice in this interview, and ironically, social justice is what eventually took him down. SJWs always figure they are beyond approach

Y’all just say silly stuff all the time, social justice, isn’t about waiting for someone to say something silly and than want them to be canceled! Social justice is about changing laws that discriminate against a group of people, it’s about leveling the playing field,so folks who don’t look like you get the same opportunity you have in every aspect of life from, business to housing to law enforcement.. read sometimes you might learn 😮

The man was a lawyer who believed in law and order. If you think that's SJW that's on you. What is next? The 5th and 14th Amendments are woke? You are dense

The meaning of “social justice” has changed. Back in the day, it meant something honorable. Fighting for civil rights, calling out injustice where you saw it. Today, it’s used ironically - as if people no longer comprehend that fighting for justice is a truly noble human instinct. Now, it’s ridiculed. Which is a real shame.

The playful, tongue-in-cheek parley between Cosell and Muhammad Ali was pure delight but sadly, in the end, Howard's indignant remarks and gripes about his colleagues were not.
