it was the action of directly [violent intent] attacking a late, empty-net goal scorer the League wanted to discourage with Reilly; TW43 needed specific punishment, as his history, like you noted, isnt befitting of any sporting play. I believe Marchand, Kadri, et al. had similar reckonings directly with player safety and altered their games because of it. but the bearhug of friendliness after a golf swing to the face blew my mind also, like, what a walk back!

As a Caps fan who has watched 100s of games with Wilson’s style and aggressiveness, this one is perplexing. Wilson hasn’t done something stupid since 2021 and he’s clearly changed his approach to his game in the past couple years. He’s well respected amongst NHL players. With that said this looks like a moment of frustration and stupidity, and he clearly regretted it immediately. He deserved a suspension. 6 games though? Well that’s only due to precedence and so 6 games, as much as it hurts our playoff hopes, is fair.

The trouba incident was 100% deliberate. I've played my whole life through college and I can guarantee you he was in control of his stick. When you fall backwards like that you don't swing your stick like a baseball bat,and he was barely engaged these are pros and he knew exactly what he was doing. When falling back your arms go upward not directly across your body in a sword swinging motion that just happens to smash his opponent directly in the side of Head where there's no ear piece or protection from nose down. If this isn't obvious as hell you should get your eyes checked.. as far as Wilson goes this isn't surprising hes been doing it since day one it was obviously deliberate as well just like all his incidents, trouba is a big hitter who plays tough physical game and let his emotions get the better of him and he made a bad decision..Wilson plays the same except he always makes bad snap decisions like he has poor impulse control and just can't help himself

The thug should have gotten at least 10 games, Rempe from the Rangers got 4 and it was only his first offense, Wilson's been suspended 5 times and fined a few more and got away without a suspension when he attacked Buchnevich and Panarin in 2021. Parros should be fired.

Absolutely bonehead thing to do by Wilson. This recurring idea that "repeat offender", particularly as it relates to the Morgan Reilly incident, means something is nonsense. Reilly went directly to a player's head -- the fact that he's never been suspended before should make no difference when it comes to his punishment. Leafs fans are the worst crybabies in this regard. Wilson was going to get suspended for this to begin with. It's an OBVIOUS suspension. Now we're just nit-picking with regards to the length of suspension. BTW, the "repeat offender" status apparently has not stopped Wilson (and others) from playing the way he does, has it? So, suspending some players makes no difference with regards to their behavior on the ice, it would seem. Historically, it never has. Even the threat of another team's Enforcer doesn't stop some of these guys from behaving like anti-social hooligans.

Just a poorly timed and useless stick check from Wilson while the players back is turned, Noah leaned forward to skate and now you go from stick checking just under the top hand to wrapping composite around Noah’s face. You can see Noah speared him in the chest so Wilson throws a pointless stick check thinking it will cross sticks with him but clearly fails.

When have you ever seen Wilson show empathy to someone he has hurt (besides maybe not throwing another punch on Jamie Oleksiak after he flatlined him) the fact he instantly went over to check tells me it wasnt intentionally done just stupid, unlike something like Morgan Reilly's crosscheck that was targeted, intentionally done snd pre mediated. The irony of leafs screaming bloody murder at this and being fine with the Reilly one disgusts me.
