It would be fantastic if you could get your Grammy to do a pickle tutorial or salsa tutorial! Or any canning or cooking! It would definetly grow your channel and we need the Grammys of the world to pass down their knowledge! So very many people have taken to canning this year that most canning supplies are in very short supply around the country!

Hi Veggie Boys! Another great video! Andrew, one word of advice for a young man. You are so fortunate to have Grammy making her recipes for you and if she is willing to share them with you and your wife you are truly blessed! Unfortunately life happens and you don't want to lose those wonderful family recipes! Hey Joel, I'm a hybrid lefty. I eat and write left handed and throw, bat and golf right handed. Go figure! Stay healthy and thanks for the tips at the end!

Hey Andrew, so happy to see your channel taking off. I have a question though. With all the waste and scrap that comes from growing veggies, why not pigs for pork?
@theveggieboys4 жыл бұрын
We used to raise pigs, however the amount of flies they bring around is not good for hygiene. We are considering raising pigs again. We just need a better area to raise them, maybe not so close to the farm market.

I was told when the tendril closest to the watermelon is dried up all the way back to the vine then it’s ready to pick.

You know, I'm from a area that doesn't have to many vegetable farms out here, I would be amazed to be able to spend a lil time working a farm and seeing how things are done on a Farm! Maybe that's something you all can start, I for one would spend money to travel to a farm where I can see and do what ordinary Americans do for a living! I'm from Las Cruces, NM! Every state has different agriculture that other states don't have, your family has and seems like it would be a great place to visit and learn! Perhaps a maybe in the near future! 😀

Great Tips! I grew cantaloupes one year in my mini garden and pampered them all summer. I didn't take the time to research how to know when to pick them. My husband wanted to go pick one/eat and I would not let him. Well, we ended up with NONE. The animals decided they were ripe and ate them.

@theveggieboys4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! Sweet corn is known for growing 2 and on rare occasions is able to have a 3rd ear produce before the plant is too old. Sweet corn is very short season.
@marymarysmarket35084 жыл бұрын
Wonder why they detassle the Illinois corn fields. ??
@1982MCI4 жыл бұрын
Mary Mary's Market it is to cross pollinate it and make new seed corn varieties. The rows of corn that the remove the tassels from will catch the pollen from the rows of corn next to it that still has tassels but is a different variety of corn. That pollen then pollinates the corn ears with no tassels and gives the seed company a different breed of corn than what either the mother or father plant were. The corn with no tassels will be cut separate from the corn with tassels so they can track it and follow it to see if the need to do it again or did it do what they wanted it to do. It’s just how we come up with all of our different types of corn is all

Squirrels like to do that, as well as groundhogs. Deer will smash both watermelons and cantaloupe then eat a couple bites and move on so it’s probly the first two or could also be chipmunks 🐿 or rats also
@oldnanz4 жыл бұрын
Don Pfeiffer thanks I was afraid of that. Keeping chipmunks out or a voles will be difficult.
@1982MCI4 жыл бұрын
Old Nanz the only way I’ve found to solve the problem because you will not get rid of wildlife, ever, is to plant extra. I usually plant an additional 10-25% depending upon the crop, so that we may coexist!!! Good luck to ya.

We plant over 60,000 tomato plants, we raise two plum varieties and multiple round such as, primo red, red deuce and our favorite Biltmore. Also we raise cherry and grape along with some heirloom. Because we plant so many we don’t stake them.

@The_Veggies_Boys 🙋. How do you keep from getting Blossom End Rot on Tomatoes, Zukes, Cukes, etc?
@matthewochs81894 жыл бұрын
When you water don’t water the plant itself just water the roots. And usually blossom end rot comes from a calcium deficiency.
@theveggieboys4 жыл бұрын
What he said lol
@1982MCI4 жыл бұрын
Put a tablespoon of epsom salt in with the plant when your planting and it will take care of your calcium deficiency but you also have to maintain consistent moisture to the plant and if you do both of those then you will not have blossom end rot at all
