Tomato rasam | quick, easy & more tasty rasam | ಸಾರು | How to make rasam | Tomato saaru recipe
A tasty tomato rasam recipe. Usually we prepare rasam by cooking toor dal with water. In this recipe the main flavour of toor dal comes from frying the toor dal and adding it as Masala. The other thing is we cook tomatoes as whole and smash them. If few changes made in Masala, gives different tastes to rasam or any curries.
Ingredients :
Coconut oil 5sp
Toor dal 5sp
Pepper 1sp
Dry red chilli 4
Methi 1/2sp
Coriender seeds 1sp
Jeera 1/2sp
Hing
Turmeric powder 1/2sp
Curry leaves
Tomato 3
Green chilli 1 optional
Salt to taste
Jaggery
Ginger 1piece
Coriender leaves
Mustard seeds
Dry red chilli
Curry leaves

In cooking many words in vernacular will appear as ENGLISH IS NOT HAVING PROPER EQUIVALENT WORDS ESPECIALLY NAMES FOR INGREDIENTS.( vegetables mainly) eg.HOT FOR KHARA may lead for temperature. THE PRESENTOR MAY NOT BE KNOWING HINDI WORD" THEEKHA". MERELY "SPICY" for Westeners may mean more spices which need not be hot ot Theekha but more aromatic. Again some do not like flavors at high level using cardamom or cloves or strands etc.

Both SAMBHAR AND RASAM have two basic receipe differences. Usually for HOME AND SMALL GATHERINGS both items are made of SPICES BASED POWDERS(RASAM POWDER AND SABHAR POWDER). But for really large quantity both items are made by wet grinding of spices which may include boiled TOOR DALL.. PREPARATIONS MADE BY WET GRINDING .BECOMES MORE THICKER THAN THE ONES PREPARED USING SPICE POWDER AND HENCE LOOKS MORE " CLEAR" and thin .
