Here's the process: 1. Remove seed into fine strainer. 2. Blow gel off seed with "full" setting. 3. Thump seed into a pre-mixed blend of 1 part bleach and 5 parts water. 4. Shake vigorously for 2 minutes. No more, no less. Well give or take 10 seconds I'd say. 5. Pour seed back into strainer and use "full" setting again to wash off bleach. 6. Thump seed onto paper plate to dry and store. Here's my video from 2019 where I do bleach and hot water treatment on 3 types of veggies: Here's the process: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4fWepeNf750jtk

I’m going to try this method. Have some lovely little yellow cherry tomatoes that were gifted to me and I want to keep the seeds for next year.

So helpful! Thank you Brent! Can I treat all seeds for microgreens with the chlorine bleach before planting?
@C3Voyage10 ай бұрын
I've done many that way, but I can't say it works with all of them. Test and see. It's what I do when I want to find out. In my book, I recommend a "bleach prime" on just a couple of them.

You say you're a tomato breeder of seedless tomatoes which I'm interested in because of diverticulosis. What site do I go to to buy? Thanks so much!

It's actually in the works right now! I hope the work will be finished in the next couple years. I will put out updates on what's going on with it all so stay tuned.

I don't keep bleach in the house. Can I use hydrogen peroxide instead?
@C3Voyage3 ай бұрын
No. It's not the accepted practice that's been proven. Hot-water treatment is best for inside and exterior of seed. Bleach for outside only. Google and read up on it.
