Donald, I use Crab Shell in my garden and never have any calcium problems (BER). My tomato plants are very healthy, the stems are quite large and just starting to flower. Since I started using ocean products, the trace minerals have made a positive impact on plant vigor. BTW: my spring beets are amazing by following your old videos and starting the seeds indoors to transplant as soon as winter faded away... Good luck with your garden

Looking great Donald! Healthy looking tomato plants. Perhaps you should try Sioux or super Sioux one of these days as they seem to handle the heat much better than other varieties here during our hot Australian summers. I thought I was growing a Cherokee purple plant this year but the fruits ended being small and red :( so I must have made a mistake at some stage. I've had lots of volunteers seedlings this year so this may have been the cause of the problem. Oh well, there is always next spring..

I may one day give the Sioux a try. Just like the flavor of the Cherokee Purple.....Donald

Donald are you still growing? would love to know how to control weeds between the plants and also how you keep the entire garden looking so good from weeds and grass. what do you do to get it just dirt? do you spray anything to kill the grass?
@webcajun5 жыл бұрын
I run the tiller between the rows then use a hoe right next to the plants. Easy if you stay on top of the weeds and not let them become a problem…… Donald

Donald.. need a little advice. I'm in southeast Texas near Houston and my tomatoes, like yours, have blossomed these last couple of weeks. But now for the first time in my gardening history I have been overrun by dozens of horn worms that are cleaning me out.. is there a organic trick to getting these boogers under control? I can't keep up by picking them off and squashing them.. help! Kenny Smith
@webcajun7 жыл бұрын
Hey Kenny, I’m not organic so all I can suggest is to use Liquid Sevin. Spray the plants and the horn worms will fall like rain. Better than letting them destroy all your hard work....Donald

Dear sir , greetings , your friend here from south-america, Surinam. this video just helped me with my tomato plants. could you please tell me what type of sweet corn I could order from the U.S., since they only sell sweet corn seeds from china here in our country that aint good. couple a weeks ago from 120 seeds only 2 germinated and my potting soil was very good. this is the 3rd time that I bought these seeds and it did not germinate how I expected.

what makes tomatoe plant leaves curl from all different directions? my great beans leaves look blistered and shriveled but green.
@webcajun7 жыл бұрын
Leaf curl in tomatoes can be caused by a virus, inconsistent watering, lack of calcium in the soil or due to overwatering/rain, etc. You need to go online, search for the problem, compare pictures of the leaves and causes. You should be able to narrow it down. Same thing for the beans…..Donald

Donald, been watching your video's for a while now just wondering what yor thoughts are on pruning and taking the suckers off, or does it really matter?
@webcajun7 жыл бұрын
My advice is to answer that question yourself. Next year prune / pinch suckers on half your plants and leave the other half alone. I seldom pinch suckers but I do prune branches that would end up touching the ground…..Donald

Also add a few bowls with water around the tomatoes. Most times birds are only after the water. Thus give them water, and they leave the Tomatoes alone.
