Actual fun fact about the guy at the 1:00:00 mark, he appeared in a comic game with other people, so finally you get to see this guy in 2 with a full model and everything, and immediately you see him die. So you can imagine how the people who played the comic game felt lol.

I get what the dude was trying to say, but I think Tomato usually does a decent job of explaining his reasoning for stuff. There are a TON of unskippable cutscenes in this game, especially at the start, so setting a checkpoint so that you don't have to watch a bunch of tutorial crap more than once isn't a bad idea. Plus, that boss is directly outside of the checkpoint, so resetting would literally just look like walking 10ft back into the room instead of starting there lol.

None that are notable, and the reason for it, is that people get attached to characters, even undefined characters like DS1 Isaac Clarke. Killing off your MC from the first game almost never goes well, least of all if the new character you're playing as is the killer.

Yeah, so funnily enough Tomato's joke wasn't too far off about the guy at 1:00:00. He's actually Franco Delille, the protagonist of Dead Space: Ignition, a weird motion comic/puzzle game released on PSN and XBLA shortly before the release of Dead Space 2 as a spinoff/promotional thing. His game is basically just him running around the sprawl during the outbreak, doing engineering stuff [solving puzzles] and being told tons of exposition between all the times he gets introduced to important NPCs from Dead Space 2's story. To top it all off the game ends literally the moment he opens the cell door to free Isaac. (which I suppose makes sense, since I guess they didn't want to spoil that he's immediately killed seconds later)

Alien Isolation has some of the best AI and it's actually really bad. It makes the game artificially difficult in ways no one wants. For example, if you ever hide in a locker you are giving yourself a death sentence because the sound of the locker will attract the alien, then because of that and the "director AI" telling the alien you're in that area, you sometimes can never leave the locker without dying as a result.
