It's been asked a few times, so for anyone using this walkthrough, hopefully this will help. On the Xbox 360, you use the hammer just like any other weapon. Cycle through your weapons until it appears, left trigger to raise it, and right trigger to "fire" it at single enemies. For a widespread attack that will hit multiple enemies (but has more limited range), hold LT and then hit Y. Hope that helps.
