I think it would get too warm in that climate. Idr but certain NA tribes dug out a circular pit that housed family. I don't remember how it was covered. Same? It offered great protection from wind just as this would.

Exactly. Cooking outside is fun in a nice weather. But where I live, it's relentless wind and rain for 6 months a year. Cold is not a problem - wind is. No human is equipped by the nature for living in the wind. You need a spacious shelter for anything more than brief survival. Oh, and when the weather finally gets good, we get mosquitoes. So many that you could cook them. You also need robust food containers because my local rats eat through plastic.
