I worked at a gander mnt about 25 years ago and still remember when the aqua view came about and all the people screaming and hollering about that new fangled technology and how “people just can’t afford or catch fish the way they should!” Lolol boy have things changed!! Love using my LIVESCOPE!! Thanks Tom and Mitch for telling it how it is!!! Keep it up!!

Thats weird. We typically go to the naturals like minnows and leaches in summer when they set up on typical summer patterns. I like spot tails myself all our U.P. lakes have them or dace minnows mudlers sculpins darter varieties. But we do pull lots of crawler harnesses in Little bay de Noc. Are river mouths are loaded with gobys so crawlers get pecked to bits. Thanks for all the tips Tom. And the great content. BEST WALLEYE GUY ON UTUBE

Great answer, you could row out into the lake and cast a jig to determine the lake depths and not use sonar but why would you do that. I’ve learned so much about fish after I bought an underwater camera and again learned so much with the Livescope .

Tom, like your take on usage of forward facing sonar. It actually teaches you so much, so that if you left it home for the day, you'd still do extremely well. The key, as you said, is catch & release. Limits are actively changing on most lakes..and they need to for various reasons. But that probably wouldn't be as much of an issue if people just practiced catch & release. And properly release them so they can live. Fun to watch you guys!
@TomBoley

In my opinion... It has nothing to do with forward facing. Every company will continue to create products that give anglers a greater advantage. No different than products in any other industry. Information sharing and innovation without conservation in mind is far more destructive than ffs. Hence why I preach c and r so hard. Moral of the story is we all have to think about conservation a lot more.

Keep em comin' Tom!! Loving the content buddy! Question for ya.... I live in south central Wi about an hour north of Madison. The woman and I enjoy making a couple trips up that way a couple times a year. What lakes would you suggest up there to target some decent 'eyes? Not looking for secret spots obviously, just a general area to get on some fish. We've spent a lot of time on Lk. Owen but it seems like we always get a MESS of smallies and few, or no walleyes. Also.. If you're ever down this way, you gotta try Big Green Lake. Awesome fishery! Keep crankin em man!!

Really enjoy watching you and Mitch haul in those "monster eyes" up there in Yankee Land. Problem we have down here in NW Arkansas is there is no way we can get live leeches. So I have had to resort to artificials. Don't know how much difference that makes or if you could do a video showcasing them. Only change I make is to use a "slow death" hook on the back of my search bait to give the artificial a little more action in the water.

Glad to see the comments on FFS and the positives of technology but also balancing with catch and release of the resources. Also would like to see comments about using this in deep water in water 35 ft deep or more to target big fish, seems like more and more people are doing this and abusing the resources as walleyes caught deeper than 35 are going to die with barotrauma if caught and released. What's your opinion on this?

Since live scope is so good that it “puts fish in the boat for you”, it would be fun to see you find a pod of fish, catch them with your choice of gear, then throw something absolutely ridiculous at them and not get bit. You still have to choose the right bait and right presentation. Livescope is making you more efficient, but there’s still decisions the angler has to make to be effective in actually catching a fish. Seeing a wrong decision be made might prove there’s lots more to it. Do a live stream of this, with you fishing with another person. One person has the good bait, another has the wrong presentation and getting out fished 10-1.

If you had a giant bowl stocked lake has walleyes and panfish but the panfish are so thick you cannot tell a walleye from a perch. How the hell would you fish it? Super weedy like 6 ft tall weeds 200 yards out. Middle is about 20 feet. No real structure or holes/drops. Pulling cranks nets the occasional walleye but live bait is nearly impossible the perch will come to the surface to eat its insane.
