I've been to Tombstone once years ago and while its obviously touristy, it does have some cool things to see and read about and amuse ones self with although yes the expectation is to spend and that isn't always a turn on. I had not been to Bisbee but that looks like a really cool town and I was rather shocked to find out it sits at over 5500 feet of elevation, hence the puffing stair experience and being stuffed up with a cold and a workout like that would not have been a fun moment !
@EmbracingDetours4 жыл бұрын
I think on a better day when I was feeling well we could have made much more of our time in Tombstone. But it would be nice if there were some signs explaining the history at various points of interest, the only thing we saw were people pushing paid for experiences. Bisbee took us by surprise too, even though you are only half an hour away from Tombstone you are definitely in a very different environment.

Contrary to most comments here, I love Tombstone. I have a place there and always look forward to going back. I bought the place i have from someone somewhat infamous in the neighborhood who's name would still be recognized by most people that live and work there today. Good or bad, it's a very close knit community. I hadn't been there for more than a few days working on the house. While eating at the Longhorn, I started talking to a guy in a cowboy hat, part of one of the local shows. He introduced me to the owner of the Longhorn and some of the other residents. Through that conversation I found an HVAC guy, who put me in contact with all the other services. Thing is, no services advertise in Tombstone, they don't have to. There's too much work. I've been all over the world and few places have invited me in as a neighbor and friend like Tombstone did. My take on the tourist businesses is, I want them to stay in business. Every time I go "home" I go over to the paintball, gun supply, casino called Big Iron Shooting Gallery and shoot all the guns, buy some ammo and admire the saddles and western belts and holsters because, since I don't have a horse (or shoot western), I can't justify buying one. I might not even get one there, I might go to the guy at the other end of town on the other side of Allen street (main drag) and have him make me one. Geno D'Ambrose down at the Tombstone old west bookshop .But I'm still thinking I should get the horse first. To be honest, I've got a neighbor that has the most beautiful white and brown paint that I've ever seen. I've been looking at it for a while now... I routinely have a dozen deer walking though my yard and the late night coyote packs, and the occasional renegade cow will go grazing through till the local rancher finds her and takes her back home. Other than that, rabbits, road runners and rattlesnakes have all made an appearance. I guess for just a day visit, my experience there doesn't help much, but everywhere you go are people who you can develop lasting friendships. Eat at Cafe Margarita, get a premium steak at the Longhorn (don't get a cheap steak, you get what you pay for) and tell them Brian sent you. I always enjoy the idea of them saying, "Brian who?" I haven't been back in an while, but if you say, "the guy that bought old crazy Larrys place", then they'll remember who you're talking about.
@harlockgft88843 жыл бұрын
I agree 100 percent. Every person who we talked too who lives and works in Tombstone became instant friends with us. It's a very tight knit community and we loved it.
