1:56, to me, really tells the story. Reacting positively to her voice, friendly body language, but couldn't help slipping a hiss into the middle even as he leaned in for scratches... to me, that shows that living outside made him so cautious that he learned to hiss by default to prevent him getting hurt again. Living on the street is tough for sweet boys like Ricky 🥲

That's normal in older male cats who haven't been neutered. The testosterone gives them big thick cheeks. So once they snipped his man bits his cheeks deflated.

The hormones in males do that as it bulks up their figure. Makes them look funny, but once they are fixed or are fixed BEFORE breeding age, that ceases.

A stray cat just like Ricky found me and made it clear I was going to take care of him. After so many vet visits he finally came inside for good and I had him for 20 yrs. I still miss that bossy boy. You've saved Ricky and I wish you all many happy years together! ❤❤🐱

From my time of having cats over the span of my life, I’ve always learned that it’s usually the older gentlemen kitties that have to softest spot for humans. I found this tiny orange kitten in a box back before I even Owned cats as a child, unfortunately all of his sibling passed because they were left in the summer heat and I had to sit with him around the clock because of fading kitten syndrome. He luckily pulled through and live to be 17, I’ll never forget thinking about the fact that as he got older he seemed to show more and more appreciation of the little things I’d do with him like bubble back pack walks or celebrating his birthday. Rip big Whiskey, because of you my heart has opened up to the ability to care for many more kitties like you and I see so much of you in my current baby teddy bear ❤

I love stories about former community/street cats. We have a lovely boy who visits daily for treats and a nap on the deck. It took me about a year before he would accept human touch. He's been neutered and chipped but he does not enjoy being indoors regardless of how cold it it and we can get down to - 40 (without the wind chill). He has a heated shelter with food and water.

Thank you so much for sharing your story about helping this beautiful tiger 🐯 kitty. I tryed to get a girl tiger kitty about 2 years ago but, I was not successful to get her to come in to my house. Your story brought tears to my eyes. There are so many kitties out in this wild world that need our help. I had 20 outside Kitties at one time that I fed 2 meals a day. I enjoyed this so much. Now I only have one inside kitty that I was fortunate enough to raise from being a brand new baby. He is a Russian Blue and I named him Gray-Boy, I love him dearly. I want to try and get another doggie because I just lost my little puppy of 12 years. Her name was Miss Sally, she was given to me from my little brother. She was part Jack Russell Terrier and Schuitu. I loved her very much. She had cancer and the vet said that there was no operation that would help her. So my Lord took her to be in heaven with my little brother. They are up there running thru our Lords Flower Gardens. Thank you once again for a successful story of helping an outside kitty. I fed my girl Kittie for a couple years as a stray till she eventually moved in. I have four cats and she’s by far the most affectionate and appreciative of everything I do for her. Strays have that experience of having to try and do it on their own. I think that’s why they tend to be the most cuddly and loving of cats.
