Don't lead by title / No truer words were ever spoken. The best leaders that I served under did exactly that. Thanks Nasty

Mr. Manazir makes me want to do better and be a better person not because he tells you to, but because he sets an example. Awesome human and amazing leader. We need more Mike Manazirs in the world!!

Nasty is a genius. He’s a natural fighter pilot. I always wanted to be an Eagle pilot, but listening to him it’s easy to see that he’s way out of my league. I am so glad that there are people like him protecting our country.

And thinking like that is exactly why you lost. No one is out of your league, you go learn. Some are more naturally gifted fighter pilots, some study and learn to become great. Decide who you are and go after it 🤘.

Looks like 'Nasty' had more positive experience with Super Hornet than all of the other Tomcat to Super Hornet pilots I have heard. Typical complaints I have heard were, way too slow to get out of risky situations in the battlefield (with weapons load on, it had a lot of drag and could not exceed high subsonic), not enough gas, does not carry enough etc. Also, if you ran out of energy pulling high AoA in a Rhino, it was very difficult to recover the knots. I heard one Super Hornet pilot ('Jungle') say, he got out-accelerated by a KC-135 tanker when he had tanks and missiles on.

That might be influenced by Nasty not doing a lot of the in-the-weeds stuff as well as knowing it was going to be his last time in a fast jet. Still had some interesting things to say about it though (e.g., break landing, system integration, etc.).

Nasty is much more critical of the Super Hornet in his interview with Ward Carroll. He specifically states the Super Hornet is unable to go through the Mach at sea level with any ordinance or tanks on it.

I think “Nasty” was so good at flying the Hornet because he was an “Old School” stick and rudder pilot. He flew without all the fancy electronics and computers. Nowadays the pilot in a jet just tells the air what they want to do and the aircraft says okay I can do that or you’re crazy I’m not allowed to do that. I’ve seen a few fighter pilots that come out and fly a 182 or SR22 and can’t land it without help. Not because they aren’t good pilots but they’ve become too reliant on the computers and fly by wire and lost their stick and rudder skills.

Another podcast commented on Nasty around the boat - " a little high , a little fast .... 3 wire ." They said he was one of the best .

He was a lot easier on the Super Hornet in this interview than I have heard him be in previous interviews. In his interview with Ward Carroll, he mocks the Super Hornet for not being able to go supersonic at sea level while carrying any ordinance or tanks.
