All the gunpowder/firearm stuff is exactly what I needed for my Spelljammer game. Thanks for this review. I didn’t know this book had that information.

I love the gunpowder rules in this book. We use this in my game. I homebrewed some new weapons using these rules too. Its a much better system than the DMG

definitely looking forward to playing around with new archetypes and races to see what crazy combinations there are. Third party options are just great avenues for creative alternatives for those who just like more options.

I really like the time flies rule, I'm gonna use it for my games :)

My favorite is the new weapon options to let players be more creative with attacks. My favorite of them is assail.

There are more weapon options in the Midgard Heroes Handbook as well!

Starting to pick up Kobold Press books to potentially run my first campaign and do so in Midgard (actually currently debating the next one to purchase - have Tome of Beasts I and II, Creature Codex, Tome of Heroes (definitely excited about some of it), Deep Magic, and Vault of Magic). I'm rather a large fan of 3PP stuff (although my favorite for Pathfinder is defunct at this point [Dreamscarred Press, though I may have some bias on that]). It's not all good, but especially from larger companies like KP, it's often better than first party stuff, IMO.

For your next books I would recommend the Midgard World Book and if you can the Southlands World Book. This will give you the lore and locations and info you need for your Midgard campaign. I have videos on both. Start with the Midgard World Book though if you can only do one.

@@GMToolbox Advice taken. Gratefully in a position for both. Plan on picking up Ebon Tides next check, but that's more of a personal fascination with Shadow Realms (whatever name they may go by in any given system).

i think i will buy this only for the downtime activities. The balance of the subclases until now its not very good... (hope this book would be better) but i love the adventures of kobold press so much

I play tested some of them and they were pretty good. Looks like they made suggested changes so I am anxious to see them on the table. I admittedly have not looked through them all but the ones I have looked at seem pretty solid. The Downtime section is fantastic though! I would say at least take a look at the subclasses and see for yourself what you like and don't like. You can always allow some and not others. Its your table after all!

The gear is really cool too. If you need stuff to sell in your alchemist shop it will help you out a lot and the players will love to throw bottles of cold or fire bombs or try new poisons such as Ghoul saliva paste, new weapons and armour or more elaborate things such as a clockwork warhorse for when they get bored riding around on warpigs and pygmy woolly rhinos.

Sounds like a cool book. One of these days I will get over my hesitation to go outside the WOTC books. 😀

I use 3rd party books more then WOTC books these days. So many are just better.

I'd advise you to do it sooner rather than later. Kobold Press alone makes a TON of great stuff. Monsters, Subclasses, Spells, Regions... they do it all and do it very well.

If you are going to be at Gen Con I suggest dropping by their booth (#1855). I will also be working at the AAW booth #570.

I ignored Kobold Press far to long... and now I think it beats WoTC by half a plane of existence.

Ya. Its really good and this is one of my more used KP books along with all the monster books. I also love the Midgard setting.
