How do you prevent cracking on the shoulder, the last two I made the heads fell off? One of the best leaf-making videos I've seen!

Thank you! Try not to work it when it's too cold, and use radiused corners to set it down when you isolate the head. Sharp corners are the enemy!!!

Forge with the shoulders up, on the leaf side, will make that much easier. This is one reason I prefer 2" face anvil though

That was certainly how I was taught, but over the years I realised it's not that important, as you are able to correct any bend before the next heat.
