Very excited to see Erod in St Paul, Andrew Morris and Cory Lewis have really been doing well lately, Connor Prielipp has been incredible with a 14.3 K/9 (38.8 K%), Kaelen Culpepper has had a very advanced approach and some nice defensive highlights so far, and Eeles and McCusker make for a really fun pairing in that they're both Indy ball players and basically polar opposite types of baseball players. And of course, Walker Jenkins is looking right at home in high-A as a 19 year old. Farm is in a great spot!

Obviously you should hope for all of these guys to pan out. My biggest hope is this next batch of prospects can be guys that stay healthy and play all the time.

You are a true optimist 😂😂

Nah they were cursed from the moment they joined the twins

Is it time to give falvy credit? I feel like we are in or around the playoffs every year, but have a really great farm system last couple years.
@TomFroemming2 ай бұрын
I understand a lot of people are frustrated that the Twins never seem motivated to push things over the top and really go for it, but I view that as much more of an ownership thing. Not every move Falvey has made has worked out, of course, but I do think he and the front office/scouting are good at building sustainability and identifying value in the draft. I like the way things are trending. Anything can happen, but it feels like (as you suggested) we can expect this team to be competitive for years to come. He definitely deserves credit for this year especially, given the budget he was given to work with.

@@TomFroemming I agree with both parts it stinks we didn’t go out and get a starter or another high level bat for a World Series run especially how close we were to winning a WS or the Al pennant. But, It’s not it’s Falvey’s fault the pohlad’s didn’t wanna pay, and the whole broadcast situation. I feel he’s drafted, traded, and signed well considering the limitations.

I'm a strong believer in Falvey. There's only so much you can do when ownership doesn't want to cooperate, but I think he's done a great job with the resources he's been given.

This was a long time ago but Fred Patek was only 5’5” and he was pretty solid
@Prunesquallor2 ай бұрын
And Altuve is listed at 5'6" but he looks 5'4" max

And Eeles uses his height to his advantage in the box. He has a small zone and is pretty disciplined. Seems like a guy who’d be frustrating to pitch to.

I think Morris and Winokur could make a top 100 list next year
@TomFroemming2 ай бұрын
I’d add Soto to that list, too. Even with some guys graduating, there are still plenty of exciting prospects in the system.

It's weird to say, but I'm definitely lower on Emmanuel Rodriguez than most people. I think I'd put him 6th on your list in the Keaschall/Matthews/Soto tier. He's a guy who has over a .400 BABIP in AA this year, a 27% K rate(which is actually improved from previous levels) and a 25% walk rate. My question is: what happens when MLB pitchers are hitting the edges of the zone consistently and he's forced to swing the bat in poor counts? It's the Eddy Julien conundrum and Julien had an elite contact rate last year when swinging at pitches in the zone. Scouts give Rodriguez a 20 or 30 grade on hit tool, so I'm concerned it's way too exploitable. I do find it really interesting they called him up to AAA for September though, given that he only has 37 games logged at the AA level in his career(all this year). Looking at the 40 man, it appears like he's the next man up if there's a Buxton setback? He's the only OF option left on the 40 man who's not with the Twins or injured, so I'm getting the impression that they're sending him to St. Paul to prepare to make the short drive across town if another OF is needed. I'm not sure why else they'd bother promoting him to St. Paul with only 37 games played in AA and a month left in the season. Am I wrong on this analysis?
@TomFroemming2 ай бұрын
I’d be more likely to move Rodriguez up than down. Not sure who’ve you seen put that low a score on his hit tool, but that’s not how I view him. He’s gonna strikeout a decent amount because he likes to get deep into counts. There’s definitely some swing and miss as well, but he’s also only 21 facing much more advanced competition. Yes, I do think him being on the 40 man/being MLB depth is the major motivator to him being in St. Paul right now. If he wasn’t on the 40 man yet, I think he’d have finished out the year in Double A. I’m sure the Twins hope not to need him, but it’s possible it could get to that point.

@@TomFroemming Fangraphs has his hit tool as a current 20 and future 30. To your point though, MLB Pipeline has it at a 50. MLB Pipeline seems to generally have a rosier outlook on prospects, but if the hit tool is closer to 50 it definitely changes my outlook on him. It may just be that I'm overly skewed by Fangraphs. The age of course is a point well taken. I'd be interested in seeing what you have his hit tool at? For that matter, I'd be interested in your general grades on the top 10 or 20 players. I really appreciate the content you put out!

I forgot canterino was even In the system 😂😂😂 sad because he could be in the majors rn but can't seen to stay healthy . Maybe it's unfair but Camargo don't move me at all probably because he's been rough in his mlb stints this year but when I see him against mlb pitching I don't see a mlb player kinda sad a guy who could of earned a mlb role easily not take it always next year tho . Be curious to see how many prospects get a real chance to make the team next year with Kepler likely gone also feel like Vasquez may get dumped also possible kiriloff may have don't get another chance here so plenty of opportunities imo . Kinda hope they give severino a chance surprised he hasn't gotta a look in the mlb yet
@TomFroemming2 ай бұрын
Yeah, I feel bad for Canterino. He has an MLB arm for sure, he just can’t stay on the mound.
