I would like to correct you. Chak chak has nothing to do with cashew. It's basically crispy cookies made from deep-fried pieces of dough mixed with honey syrup. Very tasty.

@@Whatarewetalkingabouthere looks awful, but it's a tatar desert, and i live in Tatarstan(which is a republic in russia). It's a very sweet and tasty dessert, wihch you won't like, if you don't like honey. By texture, it's giving more of fried cookies in syrup. It's very much quality related, and you need to find your own brand even here.

I stopped packing alcohol for my friends in Russia a long time ago. I was surprised that one time I was carrying a big bottle of Jack Daniels from Detroit to Moscow in my self-care, limited myself from bringing stuff that I needed, made my bag very heavy, and was afraid to break it all the time only until I came to a Russia store and found out the same bottle of whisky for the same price as I bought it.

Zefir (зефир) is very soft. It is a Russian version of marshmallow, but usually made with apple sauce, so it has a little different taste from a regular marshmallow. @topnftart
@topnftart Жыл бұрын
@@Motor4ik33, цитата из Википедии: Zefir is derived from the traditional Russian pastila confectionery, but with added egg white foam and a gelling agent. An addition of unwhipped egg whites to the recipe originated in the town of Kolomna sometime during the 15th century, and in the 19th century the zefir dessert most likely emerged in its modern form with whipped egg whites due to a French adaptation on the recipe that was later brought back to Russia. Насчет же версии маршмеллоу - здесь слово "version" переводится как вариант, опция - указывая просто на то, что эти два десерта похожи. Так что автор комментария написала всё корректно.

Not true, you can close those jars of juice - every russian home has nylon(plastic) caps that snaps perfectly to that jar. Also Tarfun and Dushes - are the best soda I ever tried, I also like kvas. Kisel is not "jelled juice" Its juice with starch - very good for little kids and for adults with health problem, very soft on your stomach. Pryanik is not cracker - its a Ginger bread. Tvorog is not Cottage cheese - its a farmers cheese that you can buy in US. What you called a "baby food" its just what we call in US an Apple sauce. And the preserved meat - its actually my favorite - its like a stewed meat that you can add to Kasha, or soup, or veggies and have a fast ready dish (I love it because I don't like to wait to hours until stewed meat get ready). You comment about bacon is been just smoked and not cooked is funny - what kind of bacon do you think you are getting in US - surprise - its also just smoked!! The cooked one you will get only in fast food restaurant. Regardless avocado and mango - you act like in US they sell them supersoft, they are also sell them hard as a rock in supermarket and you have to wait a week until they are ready to eat. Regarding Lays сheeps - I can tell you that every country has its own flavors, for example in Turkey there was Lays with yogurt, and some other flavors that I've never seen before.

Kompot usually produced from fruits without alchohol and many many people doing in at home from natural fruits(many people have summer houses which we call "Dacha"-its garden with summer house , Russian Sauna-Banya and the place for grilling meat). So you can be sure that its 100% natural. Its fruits+sugar,boiled. For many people its tasty and every family have own recipe(different mixes of fruits,different quanity of sugar etc). Its quite healthy if you not put too much sugar in it. I never tried Kompot from supermarket and i hope that i will not.

13:13 GAMES OF THRONES: "WINTER IS COMING" !. It is a phrase that expresses poorly period and fear for life. In Russia, if someone says "Winter is coming", it's true. Now is a different time, but having a huge supply of food at home in different shapes and ways of storage really saves lives. Still not only in Russia, but also in other states with a hard and long winter, this is how they preserve and protect food. It's a great way to be self-sufficient and enjoy summer food until the next farming season. ... So, if you are in Russia, the words "winter is coming!"you don't really have to worry.

Kissel is a Russian smoothie that is centuries old. As a flavor base, local berries are used - cranberries, cherries, currants, etc. and fruits - apples, pears, etc. That is, what grows in Russia. But you can make kissel from the exotic. American smoothies are thickened with either a banana or oatmeal - Russian jelly is thickened with starch (potato or corn). In both cases, thickening occurs with starch, but bananas do not grow in Russia. Because of the thickener, the American smoothie is opaque. Russian kissel is always transparent (but colored because of the berries). A smoothie requires a chopping mechanism (mixer, blender) - Russian kissel is made without sophisticated equipment, just a saucepan and a stove (fire). It's hot in America, so smoothies are made cold. It is cold in Russia, so kissel is usually served hot or warm (it is not so tasty cold). By changing the amount of starch, Russian kissel can be very liquid or thicker. This allows you to use it both for drinking and as a gravy for pancakes, cheesecakes or other dishes. The calorie content of kissel is from 75 to 350 kilocalories per 100 gr. It has an enveloping effect, protecting the mucous membrane of the digestive organs, it is included in the menu for people with problems of the gastrointestinal tract. Like smoothies, the liquid base can be either water or milk. It should be noted that oats and banana can cause unpleasant toilet consequences. Starch does not cause such effects.

7:15 Russia has a law prohibiting the drinking of alcoholic beverages in public places, in other words, on the street. And people often want to drink alcohol, for example in the park or by the water. You can hide a bottle of beer in a paper bag or something else so that the police do not fine you. Therefore, some manufacturers produce bottles of beer already in a paper bag, as an advantage. Usually such a small paper bag is difficult to find and is sold in stores very rarely.

In Russia, the paper on a bottle of beer plays more of a brand role, with our police you will not be able to enter into a legal controversy "do they have the right to detain you if you drink alcohol in paper." If you argue, you will be detained harshly, you will spend half a day in the police station, harshly, and you will receive a fine. I think it's right. But, anyway, it happens that people drink in public places at their own risk.

My experience (2014-2020) was if you weren't drinking a big bottle and didn't act like a pizdets, nobody cared. The worst that ever happened to me was the police saw me drinking vodka in public and asked nicely for some. We talked for a few minute and passed the bottle around, before they returned it to me empty, explaining it makes them sad to see young men drinking on the street when there are nice drinks like kvas, tarhun, kompot, and mors. I told him that was a good idea, to which the sergeant of those police said it was more than just a good idea, it was the law. You guys can make Tushonka yourself. Take glass jar. Put beef inside and species you like. You may also ad paprika, onions, garlic, potato, salt , pepper, bay leaf. Put jar into boiling water so that water cover most of the jar and boil it 2-3 hours. You can put on some cap on the jar so that water did not get inside while boiling. And you get Tushenka. You can safe it for month if you close jar with cap right after you take it out. But put cap in the boiling water so no bacteria get in the jar. So, you can eat it later.

Hello! I'm from Ukraine. Accidentally stumbled upon your video. I like it. I want to give advice. You did a review on groceries in supermarkets. I suggest you go to a Russian village and try some natural products there. I don’t know how high quality products are in America, but you will definitely be delighted. I advise you to pay attention to natural dairy and meat products. Cheese, cottage cheese, cream, sausage, lard. And when I say lard, I mean fresh lard, which does not need to be cooked, but must be eaten raw. It is important to note here that the lard should be with sprouting - a thick layer of tender meat. In truth, I don’t know how things are with lard in Russia, you may have to go to Ukraine to try this delicacy)

So about cheese, Tvorog is just the something like what we known in the portuguese speaking world as Requeijão, it is a sub product of cheese, once the Molka resulting of cheese it will be cooked and the result filtered is Requeijão/Tvorog. The poles have it also but they ffremented it, so the polish variant is sour and the portuguese/russian/georgian variant is sweetish. In Portugal we eat it with pumpkin marmalade, strange enough it is just delicious. Tvorog/Requeijão is really something very natural, if you know how to do cheese, you know without not much of extra-work you get very easy, wo so I wonder what they really do to get those extra stuff in other EU countries like Ricota in Italy or Quark in Germany...

Tushenka is not a poor mans meat :)) It's basically pieces of meat boiled under pressure with a bit of black pepper and bay leaf. What you picked in a glass jar with pork label - it's the fat juice with chonker pieces of meat inside, juice texture is like jelly but with meat/fat taste (like giga broth), and yes, we mix it with makaroni, it's called (Po-flotski) which roughly translates to fleet makaroni, they're usually served in NAVY.
@4X10S
@4X10S Жыл бұрын
Oh also, since it's cooked under pressure the texture is so soft like if you would boil it for 6 hours, it just disintegrates in your mouth ;)) If you try chicken tushenka - they usually make it on a bone, which is soft and you can literally chew it and taste the bone, kinda weird but some people like it lol..

We got this flavour with the "little orange berries" in Germany, too. Especially in Northern Germany. We call it "Sanddorn". In English it translates to "sea buckthorn". And we also have the green leaf flavour, known to us as "Waldmeister" or "woodruff" in English. This one is especially popular in the former GDR, which was occupied by the Soviet Union. Btw, I love how the labels on the beer bottles at 7:08 are in German ("Malz Weizen")😂 You can find almost everything from the pickled stuff section in Germany, too. I mean, we even have pre-boiled potatoes in jars (not joking!!)😂 No, mashed apples are not baby food! We call it "Apfelmus" in Germany and eat it together with pancakes, potato pancakes (yes, that's a thing and they're sooo good!), Kaiserschmarrn (original Austrian dish) or ice cream in one special ice cream mug called "Schwedenbecher", literally Swedish cup, which is vanilla ice cream with Apfelmus, egg liquor (yes, it contains alcohol), topped with whipped cream. And yes, we have sausage and meat in jars and cans, partly with gelatine, too. At 20:56 I finally realised why this store looks so familiar with their style of presentation and that typical orange and green colours. That chain, "Globus", is present in (at least East) Germany to date. It's all in German though.
