I’ve just purchased one this week. I’ve been walking and cycling now there was no ambient lighting at all. I agree the variable light levels and the Optisence lighting is brilliant. Thanks for putting the video together it’s accurate

After trying so many different brands of headlamps and flashlights, the ones that have been the best have hands down been Ledlenser, Surefire, and Petzl with an honorable mention to goal zero’s torch 500. They’re all rather expensive and on paper may sometimes not seem to offer much over the cheaper lumen chasing brands, but their product support, durability and oftentimes practical sustained output is much better than the vast majority of lights I’ve had experience with. Long story short, although pricey, I’ve found you really get what you pay for.

Hey I totally agree.. I just dont deal with the cheap, lumen chasing or brands that copy.. For me a headlamp is seriously essential and if you have a problem in the middle of the night and you need to deal with it then reliability of your headlamp is crucial... I have had to bail on a couple of occasions due to one thing or another and having a headlamp fail is not an option... You need to stack the odds in your favour and certain areas of equipment selection I will never take chance on... best wishes and thank you for the comment..Tom

Thanks for your excellent and unbiased review Tom - there's nothing quite like user experience. I have the H19R signature myself amongst several other LedLensers, and their other Signature models which also includes the P18R Signature Torch, and P7R Signature torch, and are the 'best of the best' as regards Ledlensers consumer line and marketing spiel. I can confirm they are the best of the best as regards Ledlenser products, and whilst not cheap, as you say with the 7 year warranty and the build and finish quality, they're as much of a high tech, high quality lighting instrument that anyone could likely ever need. And as you have found, all that technology, and versatility of configuration can be easily managed through the very easy to use phone app. They're simply outstanding products in my experience and well worth the price of admission looking at what you get for the money.

Hi John, thank you for your comments. It really is great to hear from someone who has experience with the product I am reviewing. If fact awesome that you have possibly more experience of Ledlenser products than me..... I really appreciate your sharing your detailed experience of the different lights that you have had and your thoughts on the control of the light through the app.... Once again thank you and I hope you are getting great use of all your lights... Tom

Hi there, Thank you so much for another brilliant presentation. I looked at this Led Lenser and decided that it was just too complex. Too many buttons, modes and jam packed with the unnecessary. That said, if that's what floats your boat- ENJOY! I went for the Fenix HM65R Superraptor, which is much simpler and kicks out more than enough light for my needs. Thanks Again, 🤟🙂👍

Hey no worries thank you for your comments and feedback.. I usually don't like complicated and this light has a serious number of features.... In reality it's very easy to use. I hear great reports too on the Fenix so I hope to be able to try one in the not too distant future.. ATB Tom

Seems a very unbiased and experienced evaluation as you always do Tom. Much appreciated. A lot of lights look great on paper but in real life they fall far short. 7 yr warranty is a big plus. I like that. Controllability, something I am getting more used to and expected with the tech that is available. When riding a bike or just hiking along my phone is within hands reach. Much easier than pulling the light off your head to make adjustments. In the summer that is important as the gnats and mosquitoes will eat your head off. I've held off for sometime to get a really good headlamp. This helps make my mind up. This is a big purchase not so much financially at all but when I need a light, I really need a dependable quality well engineered unit that performs as needed. In the land of bears and snakes I need a beam that performs as my life may well count on it. Thanks. Safe travels
@TOMHEANEY100 Жыл бұрын
Hi Sam, I hope that you are well.... The app control is honestly something I thought was nice to have but not necessary. However like you say when hiking my phone is in my pocket and I just pull it out and adjust the beam setting up both spot and flood light power exactly to what I want.... Real world exact battery left is great to know too... I was actually filming the other night and working with the camera and the head torch to provide the light. The torch was out of reach and I just pulled out my phone and adjusted the light output as it was too bright... Very handy. For me too when I camp in harsh conditions I also need to know that I can depend on my light and on now having and owning 10 Ledlenser lights over the years they have all served me really well... ATB and thank you for your detailed comment.... Tom

On the 7 year warranty, looking at a different LEDLenser head torch, I came upon a review dated Jan 2024, "claiming against the warranty is an old fashioned YOU PROVE IT! style of claim resulting in a form being provided for you to return to the manufacturer at YOUR expense so that they can "consider" your claim.. I will update if I ever get one back.."

I would just like to say that I have just purchased the pro grade silva lr600rc and it is brilliant and I have used head torches for 20years but we have always had issues with mounting them on helmets and batterie life but this thing bloody he’ll it’s easy I tryed it out last night I would just say the lamp gets a little bit hot but it won’t let you down
@TOMHEANEY100 Жыл бұрын
Hi Steven, thank you for the two comments...I had two Silva headlamps back in 2013 that were 1000 lumen... That was massive way back then. Then I bought an exceed 2 XT which was also a great lamp. The build quality though was not what I would have expected... Battery cable not strong enough for the weight of the battery and the cable housing fittings were so small ant tight that you nearly damaged the cable thing to secure it... The beam is very good though and yes they run hot but that's ok by me. The new batteries look awesome and I might get one for my exceed as it's a great lamp. It's also good the way Silva have kept the same attachments for the batteries as as battery technology upgrades then you can upgrade your light.... ATB Tom

Thanks for the video, can you zoom or dim the light beam to a point?
@TOMHEANEY10011 ай бұрын
Hi you can dim each individual light ie the spot or flood LEDs. But you can't adjust the width of the flood or tightness of the spot if that makes sense.. You won't need to though as the standard beam pattern is perfect.. I hope that helps... Best wishes Tom

That Exposure light you have, is it one of their road focused ones or mtb ones? I have the awesome Strada road focused model. The beam is 1500 lumens, but its very wide lighting up both sides & verges on the roads.

I have just looked it up as this review is in the Signature... I think that's one of the extra features of the signature as I can't find anywhere that says the core has Bluetooth function.. www.torchdirect.co.uk/head-torch-range/ledlenser-h19r-signature-rechargeable-led-head-torch.html#:~:text=Although%20similar%20in%20design%20and,cable%20and%20mains%20USB%20adaptor.

@Tom Heaney Adventure I just found out that there is Led Lenser Bluetooth 2x 21700 Li-ion Battery Box UPGRADE that will do the trick. Basically I have to buy a new battery box. I guess it must have the Bluetooth connectivity built into it. Cheers. Where's the accent from? Ireland?

@TOMHEANEY10011 ай бұрын
Hi the P7R Core is a torch and not a head lamp and also does not have dual beam leds which allow both spot and flood beams at the same time building up more heat.. . I also dont understand your issue with quality as mine has worked and functioned on many harsh camps perfectly... It also is 1800 lumen nearly double the power of the P7R Core so will heat up no doubt... I am not sure if you tested it outside but in real world use outside when moving around which circulates air I have never had any heat issues... But look thank you for sharing your experiences so far, as it gives a balanced view of the light here.. I am sorry that you are not happy with it and when you find a headlamp that works better I would be interested to hear what it is... best wishes Tom
