@@sarahneal2102 Thank you Sarah. I so hate how conservatives today prop up great Republicans as old as proof that they are great, when it's like today's Republicans aren't fit to wipe the old Republican's butts. From what I remember, my parents were both conservative (not "hardcore" always vote Republican no matter what, but they tended to vote conservative more often than not) until they voted to put Ronald Reagan in office. Then, when they saw what Reagan did with his time in office, they knew that the Republican conservative values that they had (mostly) supported all their lives no longer represented them. They both switched to the Democrats after that and both of them voted straight blue until they passed away (1999 for my father, 2013 for my mother.) Thing is, they were still conservative in many ways, but they didn't support the Republican GOP that was created in Reagan's era and that has always been something I see in so many people... The Republicans are like "We are the conservatives!" and so many conservatives just vote straight red despite the Republicans not actually being conservative anymore, they are just controlling government to favor big business.

I believe what Tomi was trying to say was that she wants Kaepernick to explain furthermore what he’s trying to “protest” so then you can make a more direct approach to the idea. With me being a military family, I understand as well what the American flag means, like she said it’s not just a piece of cloth with different colors on it. It means freedom, liberty, justice, and history… Embracing that history. Many people have died for that flag whether it was to help a movement start (like helping people see that all colors are equal) or to help give rights, like the Civil War or the Revolutionary war and so many other things that we fought for (black or white). There have been so many lives in all shapes and sizes that have died for the flag which is why it gets on some peoples nerves when they disrespect it whether it’s burning it, trashing it or, even kneeling during the national anthem. It’s more than a song it’s respect to those who have fought and paid the ultimate price for us. But to answer Trevor‘s question I think there are different ways Kaepernick could’ve vented his thoughts. I do agree with Trevor when he says that if a black man (or anyone) do anything that they could be labeled as a thug or anything else. But the big difference is that Kaepernick has influence, we’ve already seen that with Nike on multiple occasions. If Kaepernick were to send out a tweet then that would be something in of itself you’ve already started something, or you could start of movement with how much power and influence he has he could easily do that and have many followers. The nice thing that Kaepernick has done though is making sure that he was protesting in a calm, civil, not hurting anybody in a physical manner. Although, with that being said he has a lot of options to make his point known without dissing the people who have fought/died/ endured the hardships of being in the military and or military family.

@@pjincho When you live a life of relative privilege, it's easy to assume that *most* others have it roughly the same as you do. As a younger person, I would have identified with that mindset a lot more. I thought racism was mostly a thing of the past and that people nowadays blamed it because it got them out of taking personal responsibility for their own actions and shortcomings. I didn't understand what life was like for people who aren't me. Most people in the media were similar to me. Most of my friends either were similar or tried to appear so. The history I learned in school, while I wouldn't go so far as to say it was untrue, was very sanitized. It wasn't until college that I began to see things differently. Not because I was brainwashed, but because I came into contact with people who had different experiences, and with information I had not possessed before. It's no wonder people who don't have this experience think of college as the enemy; education can change someone's perspective. If you don't receive the education, you retain the same perspective and don't understand why the other person has changed theirs. It doesn't make sense in your more limited experience. I don't think Tomi or people like her mean bad, for the most part. They just see the world in a certain way that they always have, and they feel threatened by people who are telling them they are wrong. It's like, do you take the red pill or the blue? Except that at least Neo knew that if he chose Blue, he was intentionally choosing to deny the truth. The choice isn't usually so clear.
@DanielChannel894 жыл бұрын
I might add that there are many things that make it easy for a person to discount the testimony of others with a clear conscience. There *are* (some) people in the world who play at being victims to avoid personal responsibility. There *are* (some) people out there who educate with propaganda moreso than with actual facts. And if a person is older, they *do* have more life experience than someone who may be fresh out of college trying to tell them new things (though the type of experience is likely in some ways different). So it should not actually be surprising that people are so easily able to cling to their own narratives. Instead of calling them idiots, we should realize the context of their point of view and try to figure out how to overcome those barriers.

@@TheAshube9 There's nothing objective about generational labels. The subject at hand was black African Americans and how they protest. She’s not a racist for criticizing a movement, you are ignorant if you believe that. She simply saying how can you take you’re anger out on the American 🇺🇸 the anthem, directed at Colin kapernick for kneeling during the American anthem that (White) (Black) (Orange) (Mexican) (rainbow) died to protect, sacrificing their life, time, everything for America and the freedom you have today, how could you protest the 🇺🇸 after the sacrifices people have made for it the country etc... (Black people who claim to be victims) (Kneeling during the anthem) I simply cannot understand how you could disrespect the fallen soldiers who fought for the flag which represents (America) (People of all races) who live here. There should be another way with the platform he had to protest his first amendment right, the way he did it was disrespectful to all fallen soldiers and this country how blind or deaf are you to not understand that? People claim there are racist, who? Because far as I’m concern a racist could be any race, believing you are better than another person or hating them because of their race... She said she doesn’t see color, What she meant is she sees everyone as equal as in no one is better than the next because of their skin color, she doesn’t hate you because you are black she is not criticizing you because you are black, she is simply criticizing the movement in which you represent which seems to be a racist movement. The man claims their is a select few of individuals within the BLM movement who is like the worm to the apple 🍎 ruining the movement for all the people who believe the BLM is for justice for black people for the innocent black people who have been gunned down, but the movement lost traction because the select few is actually the majority because if it wasn’t then why was there looting , burning, murders etc during the BLM movement? Why didn’t the majority of good people who stood for justice stand up and say no? Racism exist because you allow it to exist, it’s 2020 it shouldn’t be around anymore but a few people might judge hate criticize black people it’s just a few you cannot change how they have made up their mind, or this would be a perfect world and there wouldn’t be any murder stealing robing etc, people are people and they do what they do at the end of the day of course some people are racist fuck them move on and quit giving them a spotlight in the day time because they don’t deserve it, move on, there is no way you’re going to be able to find and fix every person who is racist although that would be nice it’s just unrealistic and not going to happen. This debate was simply him trying to roast her and try and make her look horrible but at the end of the day she stood her ground and didn’t give in. Quit playing the victim card, black white asian Mexican etc, if you want something in this world you have to work for it, you can’t expect a handout... it’s not going to come trust me lmao 😂 it’s sad innocent people had to get shot before you realize there is a problem in the first place or make a stand against it but doing it in the right manner and not disrespecting a whole country or fallen soldiers that died to protect you’re freedom of speech etc... the way Colin did it was and is pathetic. Call me a racist except you don’t know me because I too criticize some person who is different race than me, the point is you shouldn’t have to disrespect the flag and EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO DIED TO PROTECT THE RIGHT YOU HAVE TO EXPRESS THE FEELING YOU HAVE THROUGH FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND KNEELING BEFORE THE FLAG.... hopefully this made sense. Everything I have I worked for, no handouts etc... You don’t see innocent white people being murdered in the news by cops because the news wants to control the narrative, they want everyone to attack each other they want to divide everyone... because everyone standing together is stronger than standing alone and divided. I have black friends I have white friends I have Asian friends I have Mexican friends, I don’t discriminate or hate another race based on skin color, that is the stupidest shit I’ve ever witnessed how you could hate somebody based on skin color is beyond me but calling somebody out in their bull shit regardless of skin color I’ll always do. Don’t become the victim because you are offended the truth hurts 😂

Josh Tefft first of all I’m not a democrat and BLM is not very much aligned with the democrat party. Secondly neither democrats nor BLM say all gun owners are violent bad people. I imagine plenty of democrats and believers in BLM are pro gun. Finally I shall say if democrats are inconsistent then something they have said is wrong by definition and if they paint all members of a group with the same brush based on fringe members of the group that is also wrong. Democrats do do that sometimes as do many people in many situations, for example Tomi Lahren accusing BLM of being violent. Individuals are violent. The purpose of BLM is not violence.

As Trevor metaphorically chose the stage on which Tomi and Trevor would face-off, the battleground of this discussion was the embodiment of a hall of mirrors. Each point Tomi raised, Trevor, countered it while simultaneously using her own logic to verbally annihilate her and force her to reflect on her own flawed logic. This is truly masterful work. I like in the end how Trevor asked her a simple and personal question because you could see that he intended to demonstrate how easily her answers flowed out of her mouth when she was not working hard to remember and formulate counterpoints that were imbued with right-wing ideologies that are not a natural state within her personal beliefs.

So wtf is the goal of these protests and riots going on today? What is the end result these people are hoping for? What are they hoping to revolutionize? People die every day.
