Hey homiessss!!! Am I just old or does anyone else absolutely love furniture shopping? Lol...I scroll through Pinterest i scour Instagram then I spend hours in the halls of as many shops as I can lol...anyway I hope you'll enjoy this new video!

You’re so right about the furniture. I’ve moved many times and get frustrated about having to either sell cute stuff I’ve become attached to, or just wasting money. However! I’m an advocate of getting what you want in time - life’s short and it can really boost mental health. Not purchasing in general, that’s stress shopping and unhealthy. But getting things you like, that motivate you. When you look at them you will have memories and it can uplift your spirits in your home. Especially when you’re so far away from your homeland. Get what you WANT and LIKE tomi. But to help match them, buy woods in complimentary tones and fabrics in neutrals. I try to stay away from white and black because in different materials they can make or break the room. That way you can always match things with accessories like cushions. And from time to time you can change them with sofa covers, bed sheets, or just a new theme.

Lol I was just having a Lowkey mental break because all the rooms on Pinterest are white and I was trying to go with the same energy but then I realized that isn't me at all and if I'm nothing else I am authentic so I'm gonna get what makes me happy instead of what looks good 🤣🤣🤣

Girl, you are literally an ICON. I may be older by a year or two, but you're still my biggest role model. I had no idea what I wanted to do after college and my grades were kind of slipping, but after learning about the JET Program and finding your channel, I've put myself into overdrive. Going to finish up my bachelors next summer, and then I'll be applying to the program myself! You show such an honest and real view of how life is over there, and it really does feel like the perfect choice for me. Still gotta make it through that year of college, but I just got that feeling it'll be worth it. Plus, seeing someone around my age who has also never lived alone THRIVING over there like you are is such a confidence boost. Keep being a legend, girl!

Looks like you had lots of fun! Can't wait to see how it all looks! Maybe you can find an inexpensive rug to cover the Tatami mats. Also, if your kitchen floor dents, you might want to buy a mat to put under your table and chairs. They sell them in similar colors. This should help. My sister did this for kitchen and bedroom and it seemed to work. Im excited for you!

That's actually what I did! But covering the tatami may give it mild especially in winter so I'll just use tiny mats for now

I have recently discovered your channel and I love it! I like that you go into detail about your adventures and include all the mistakes and emotions included. I plan to move to Japan soon aand will probably make the same mistakes but at least your videos help me to feel like I won't be alone! LOL. Also I think it's amazing (and inspiring) that you bought a fricken car! I've never seen that in the vloggers I've watched. I'm scared to drive even in another state so its amazing that you're brave enough to LEARN how to drive in a new country and actually drive in it. Driving gets easier the more you do it, be cautious but don't be afraid! After this you'll be able to drive anywhere easy peasy!

@@TomisWorldxEli The story reminded me of a time in France when I was traveling with my mother. We didn't realize that we needed to pay for parking at a pay station before leaving the parking garage. We realized this quickly when we arrived at the exit gate, but several cars had already lined up behind us so we couldn't turn around. I had to run out of the car with a credit card, and run down the tunnel into the underground parking garage as cars continued to drive towards me in an attempt to exit. I finally found a pay station and then ran back to our rental car. It was so embarrassing... cars were honking at us and I didn't dare look any of the drivers in the eye.

Girl, I embraced my minimalist side and got most of my furniture from off-house too. All my stuff match but I had to go a couple times throughout the year to find exactly what I needed in the colour I wanted. Bought my other stuff at Nitori/ Amazon. This was a great vlog! Just discovered your videos. I watched other videos on Japan and so much is said (negative stuff) but you walk around and shop like you were born there. Gives me hope - theres a recruitment for English teachers at the Japan Embassy in South Africa. I was a bit afraid because I'm black and I heard of the racism. The other issues are the writing and not being able to even read signs etc but you look like you manage quite well there. I should have waited til the end of the video to leave a comment - you driving that truck was awesome!!!!
