I just wanted to say thank you, brother. Things have been hell. I work my butt off helping the community every day. Diagnosis last Monday of a possibly fatal disease, followed an hour later by my own family telling me they want nothing to do with me. Living in a hotel for a few weeks. Every day I go to work and have to chase off people who don't want help, they want a handout. I'm doing everything in my power to make the world as good as I can, but I've lost everything, including my son three years ago. Your music keeps me going each day. I've been all over the U.S., from Detroit originally, and your music speaks to me. As an Army vet, this is no longer the nation I swore to defend. I'll never be able to say thank you enough for making what may be the last decade of my life easier. And thank you as well: Ghost has become my girlfriend and my son. You got this brother. Don't let the world keep you down. HOG for the rest of my life.

I love how people still hate Tom for "Not being a real American". America is a nation of immigrants. Tom is one of many examples that the American dream still exists.
@Bancheis
@Bancheis 8 күн бұрын
@@rainofkittens Most Americans aren't "real" Americans. Like you said, America is a nation of immigrants. It has nothing to do with where you are born, it has everything to do with your mindset... well, legal citizenship is also important - but I digress. My great grandfather immigrated here from Italy. My grandfather fought for this country. My grandparents struggled to afford to raise 3 children, and they grew up on the poverty line. Every Christmas was a pair of socks and slippers, maybe pajamas, no toys, while their friends had action figures and the full Barbie house or things like that. They had a lot of simple meals, were disciplined when out of line, and stayed close throughout their years looking out for each other. My mother worked 2 to 3 jobs at a time to support me since my father was a deadbeat, but she showed me that working hard is the path even when no one else is there to help you. It was tough, wearing clothes too big for you because you had to grow into them since we couldn't afford new clothes often. The joy I felt finally getting a real pair of shoes that fit and felt comfortable brought tears to my mother's eyes and a sense of happiness myself that I never knew I was missing. Fast food like McDonalds was maybe a once-a-month treat for being good, because it was too expensive to have more than that. But we didn't give up. You can't let the pressure crumble you. Never back down, never give in. I got a job as soon as I turned 15 to help out. I grew up with a learning disability and nervous system disorder. Doctors tried to medicate me and told me I needed their poison, that I would never be independent, but my willpower was stronger than that. I followed the example of my mother and worked hard every day of my life. My mother helped me reach the top of the wall, and I managed to pull both myself and her over it. I bought a house before I was 30, have a 6 figure job, and my mother is retired now while it is my turn to take care of her. That is the American dream. It has nothing to do with generational wealth, and nothing to do with simply existing here. It is having that mindset that you can make it if you try, and the willpower to avoid the things that try to stop you... Addiction, vices, lust, "friends" that encourage destructive behavior, and even the Government or parents telling you that you are a victim and should fear others. All of that pales in comparison to the feeling of accomplishment when you finally succeed. Be it medical professionals, friends, or even family, anyone that tries to hold you back, tells you that you are not capable, not worthy of your goals, toss them away. Real family are those who support you, prop you up, help you, encourage you, blood ties or not. Distance yourself from all those who would do otherwise.

The collaborations, the videos, the way you and nova are so open & work so hard I love being able to know if my kids are listening to your songs, it's not mind rot but super seeds that are being planted that they can draw inspiration from, saving lives because there a darkness out there that wants us to be down & depressed & numb and just mindlessly consuming what they try to feed us. Love the HOG ❤

Bad news always gets me emotional, it's not only one of my favorite but my kids love it, we like to play it and talk about other songs too. Bad news though because I have five kids, two who are 19&20 and then two teen sons and my youngest They have friends, and when you see what they are going through, it's a reminder to me, of trying to take the time to hear what the kids are trying to say & to not forget they are trying to find themselves too in a crazy worls with so many outside influences, that there's always hope still even when they try to not always share everything with you. It helps connect us more. Tales me back to when I was younger too and felt like I was a mess up and running from my own mom going through hard times. We now have an amazing relationship but having teens ans my own kids now and how scary and how much more easy it is for them these days to fall into things that song bonds us on what we have worked through

Honestly, my wife and I just had a daughter and we named her Novaly, Nova for short.... that's to you Mr Tom and Ms Nova... tie the knot and make her an honest woman. And have kids. Please don't let the world corrupt you two. Have kids. Continue on your genetics. All of your families lived through famine, war, starvation, and time /to have you both. Honor them and yourselves by continuing your lineage. Have children together, get married. Keep making music, and making yourselves proud. We love you guys, and pray for the best. I worked shit jobs, was homeless, doing drugs and drinking more than I should. Years later I gave up working dead end jobs, barely surviving. Now I have worked in county jails supervising inmates, am now a state licensed armed security guard who carries a valid ccp. I refused to believe the lies that I wouldn't amount to anything, but look at me now. Just wish my dad was alive to see what I've done with my life. Tom... Your an inspiration. Legendary track Tom. Since everyone seems to be dropping their story and age in the comments, here goes: I'm 31, and your journey reminds me of elements of my own. At 19 I left my parents on bad terms, lived with "friends" and got mixed up in a world of drugs and crime, living in trailer trash, sleeping on the floor or the couch. 4 years of abusing pills/powders, 5 years of drinking every weekend, 10 years of smoking cigarettes and 10 years of smoking weed. I quit pills/powders in 2014. Quit abusing alcohol in 2015 (drink once a year now). Walked away from the old crew in 2016, and reconnected with my family who has been so good to me. I don't deserve them. In 2017 found a gift from God in the form of a new friend group that is sober, loves God, and cares about each other. Restarted my walk with God. Quit tobacco in 2020. Quit weed in 2021. Got a steady job in 2022, which I'm still at now and have great coworkers. Been improving my art, my physical health, my faith, and more. God saves, follow Him. You have to take that step.

@Grimsikk
@Grimsikk Ай бұрын
@@suzannesund4595 1. I was never addicted, genuinely. Despite a family history of alcoholism and my addictive nature to all the aforementioned things, alcohol never had its hooks in me, and I never really cared for it. 2. I've gone nearly half a decade now with easily committing to the once/twice a year thing, so I know I'm not addicted. My birthday and sometimes a random point in the year where I'd like to have a mixed drink while watching a movie alone or something. Very much a classy "me-time" thing now opposed to the prior life of getting wasted with people I didn't want to be around. I rarely get drunk, too, we're talking like 1-2 small mixed drinks sipped during a movie, once or twice a year. If I feel stressed or depressed and find myself thinking about using one of my yearly drinks for it, I stop myself every time and do something else, so as not to let myself use it as a crutch. It's an odd and rare situation, but it really does work well for me. I have the same bottle of Suntory whiskey nearly full sitting in the pantry from my birthday last September lol. I often forget it even exists.

I'm far from a rap fan, however my patriotic side has this song speaking to me.... Tom I think you've opened my mind to this kind of rap! Please keep doing what you're doing, I hope this type of message spreads through the rap community, this is a much better message than you usually find with rap music.

I know you'll likely never see this Tom, but I want to say I just discovered you and your music recently, and you are genuinely a huge inspiration for me. I'm 32, grew up real rough and been addicted to opiates since I was 15 and my life is still a train wreck. I have absolute hell ahead of me to climb out of my own grave. You've genuinely given me more hope than anyone has before especially after seeing this video, hearing your story and seeing you want to continue and try to show a struggling mfer he really can climb out that hole from hell. I've suffered a great deal in life and I have a lot more suffering to go through before it will ever begin to look better but genuinely you've given me my fight back. Ik you hoping to inspire or show ppl they can climb out their own grave, and I just wanted to say you 100% inspired at least 1 person bro, tysm please keep up the incredible work. Your songs are genuinely about some of the most important shit you could be talking about rn and I got mad respect for you for standing strong on your own fighting against the system bro. Sending u so much love and good energy my dude I wish nothing but the best for you, you've earned it.

Your BEST SONG yet! This is PURE FIRE, Tom & Nova! Absolutely love y'all. That was pure gold watching your fam come stand with you, too. This one brought me to tears man, on several levels. I'm truly thankful y'all moved to America, you are 1000x the patriot that half the people living in America could ever even think of being. They can't touch you. And thank you for letting us into your head a little way, for sharing a bit of the movie you were living before you got clean. I just passed my 11 year sobriety date. Left home in 1988 at 16, after 13 years of abuse, lived in the streets a lot the first few years, hung out with hookers n strippers n junkies n bikers.... had some clean times in there, had some fun times, accomplished some things I'm proud of, but it's the shitty times that always come to mind first, right before I remember to be grateful for where I'm at now n what I've accomplished. I know I can still do better. I ain't dead yet. #HOG4LIFE ❤

I had a hip hop label called "Lethal Beat Records" back in the 80's. We talked internally about gangster rap and freedom of speech. We had Bootsy Colins with us on Ground Zero's album. Tom Macdonald is the artist we were looking for but he wasn't even born yet. Tom showed up just when we needed him. History will write that Tom was way ahead of everyone else in calling like it is.
