Richard Smith is the dude by Tommy -Richard is from England and was introduced to Chet Atkins when he was 12 , playing Chet's tunes back at him , to quote Chet " better than I could do them myself." The song is a Jerry Reed composition called " Jerry's breakdown." Jerry and Chet made several albums together and I saw them perform this on one of the many Saturday country shows that were on in the 70s. Richard and Tommy are playing it at warp speed compared to the original , but as you can see Richard is one of the greatest guitarists to ever have picked up the instrument . I'm not sure why Chet never bestowed a CGP to Richard ,he certainly deserves it , Tommy who has that honor , obviously respects Richard's great gift as a picker.

Jerry's Breakdown is the song. It's one of those, if you're good enough to play around other guys whether they have a fiddle or a banjo or even a mandolin, that's the song most of them know by heart. Jerry Reed and Chet did and amazing duet version of it and I'm pretty sure it's on YT 😊 thanks for posting this gem

Love them both and it's clear every time you see them play together that there's an amazing buzz of musical energy between the two. It's magical to watch and listen to. Both, I'm sure, would put such guitar wizardry down to hard work and dedication and both, I'm sure, would hope that the witnessing of such would be inspirational and not off putting. Don't throw down your guitar because you can't play an F chord or you can't play anywhere near as well as them but rather try harder look up to them and imagine and dream and you just never know.

Of course...I "play" guitar. I get immense enjoyment from it...especially when I play something new - maybe something a little more complex and get it right. I will never be any good by any standard you apply. But it doesn't matter. Umm...wait...it does matter. But I am ok with it. And get a huge buzz every time I pick up my guitar. And I mean "my" guitar. I went to a guitar making school and built an acoustic guitar. Stoked...the intonation is near perfect.
