For anybody genuinely curious, if regular infantry is D1 and Navy Seals, Rangers and other branches of Special Forces are the Big Leagues then Mercenaries are like NFL/NBA Legends so either these guys are former Spec Ops or they’re BS. Mercenaries are basically doing the shit that you see in Call of Duty so I don’t think they would have time or even want to be on camera for that matter, I could be wrong. They definitely have the time to be on camera, they’re in a company, a company wouldn’t pass on free promotion. And to be clear, contractors (aka legal mercenaries) are not really “nfl/nba legends”, they employ people who had combat roles, veterans, ex-police and so on. They’re contracted workers, they don’t work for the military or the government, explicitly so, they can be contracted by the government, but there are many contractor companies, so one having off time isn’t exactly odd, they have to have a contract to have a job. For example, one of the guys said he did security for a company, that’s basically what mercenaries do, security work, training, and on the low end actual military stuff. They choose to take a contract or not, like the Russian mercenary group, Wagner, around the end of last year they started leaving Ukraine to the Russian military because it was getting too risky for them, although Wagner is a little unique because that is actually government funded and not independent like most PMCs
