In the UK we don't use adhesive to fix plasterboard and I've never heard of a ceiling falling down because of it......

I've seen a few vids on ceilings from the UK and North America, but I haven't seen anyone use stud adhesive between the sheets and the joists/studs. Here in Australia it seems to be the recognised best practice.

Thanks for this! I'm having a mare getting any builders around here to quote/turn up to re-do my kitchen ceiling , so after watching this I absolutely think I can do it with a bit of help from my brother. Problem for me is my ceiling is really high, so will need to hire a raised platform (adds to the difficulty!!) Any tips on replacing a high ceiling using a platform?

That smoke detector in the background needs the battery replaced. Made me think it was one of mine in the basement lol. You hear it throughout the video but confirmed at 11:40 mark

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but can you tell me which is your preferred plasterers primer for problematic walls. Thinking along the lines of Cementone Stabilising Primer etc there are dozens on the market and not sure if they do what they say on the box. Thanks!

+David Michael They are mostly all mostly the same product the biggest difference between brands is the color of them. Personally i use British Gypsum but that only because its the only one my supplier get in. Honestly though you can use normal unibond and dump some sand or bonding in just keep mixing it up so it does not settle at the bottom, dont tell the customer though ;)

i know each country or region has its own rules but sometimes we have to violate this rules if we find a better way to do the job . i work in many coutrys and i learn many thing but i also find many contradictory ruls and ways to work so i take any information and i use how i think is better ,now to the point -do you think is better to leave space between two gyps boards in order to to fill with plaster between

I rarely use a tape measure to replicate a short to medium measurement. It's more accurate to use a length of wood and mark it, or even just dig my fingernail in. Using a tape measure you are building in extra layers of error/approximation. Plus my method (the medievel geometric method) is quicker.

As to my experience there's always enough a gap between any drywall boards for the plaster to get in between and through.

+Charlie Barnes The DIY shops stock 12.5mm and 15mm for ceilings, is the variation for different ceilings or are you saying 12.5mm shouldn't be used?
@SYOTOS1807
@SYOTOS1807 8 жыл бұрын
+Aspy Rationz on site we use 15mm on standard house ceilings, and fire pink boards if top floor 3 story or top floor flats, sometimes use 19mm depending on the site and type of house

+Aspy Rationz we do use 12.5 but mainly on stud or sometimes to double board certain house type ceilings

Do you also use screws rather than the old zinc clout nails? I need to board a ceiling over laths without risk of disturbing the old coving bordering the ceiling space, I thought the screws shown in this video might be the best option. Cheers.

The noise is the clutch its not an impact driver, the plasterboard is very soft, the screw would go right through it if the clutch was not set correctly.
