I was in the audience at that first variety show at the Empire Theatre, Sunderland in 1956 and enjoyed many more of his shows over the years. Great entertainer.

Ever since I was little, my dad played 'Finian's Rainbow' in his house. Tommy's singing, acting, and dancing were so on point in that movie, which is one of the reasons it's still one of my favorites.

There’s nothing like a bit of patting each other on the back with these people,Could it be Nice on the way up.Meeting them on the way down Syndrome.I Spoke to a lovely old hairdresser who used to cut His hair in the late 50s early 60s and she told me he was not as nice as he likes to make you think he is.

Tommy was a remarkable all round show business performer. He worked hard to succeed after leaving the pop music scene, and unlike other pop artists, who fell by the wayside after a few years, Tommy became a talented song and dance man. He not only performed in theatrical shows all over the world, but also carved out a successful career in films.

Saw him play the Winter Gardens in Morecambe, in my first rock concert when I was 9 years old and he was 19. Been a lifelong fan ever since. Never seen this acceptance speech at the Variety Club Lunch before. Lovely guy and a gifted speaker in addition to all his other talents as a painter and sculptor. Last year he played a short season at the London Palladium, of Scrooge, I think.I was away and so missed it.

@TheDiddlysquat Thanks for that! and he certainly did! We had no TV in SA for a long time, so didn't see anything of him later on, and I often wondered what had happened to him. Loved him to bits, so was very pleased to see all that had happened to and with him!

Tommy is English. If your referring to Finian's rainbow it's called acting ..rumour has it he's not even a real leprechaun .
