Tommy gives a more melodic and visual performance in the other one, which makes this one end up feeling so much more raw and furious to me. He fucking means it. The tape wear just makes it so much more destructive. This track invented so much just like it is here. This is one of those songs that laid out the production techniques people have been mimicking for decades, and seem to be utilized in so many different variations on this original violent sound.
