Siren: FS STH-10A, 684 Hz
Town: Jefferson, WI (Jefferson County)
Location: Grove Ave. and Rockwell St.
Test Time: 1st Wednesday 11 AM every month
Cycle: 3 minutes of alert
Other notes: I'm really making an attempt to get out to more locations for siren tests, and Jefferson County has been on my list for a while. I almost didn't go because I almost fell back asleep when I woke up, but I'm glad I came up here.
This STH-10 is 1 of 8 sirens in this town of 8000. Pretty dense system. Jefferson has 3 STH-10s, 2 Screamers, 2 Eclipses, and a Decot. There are also 2 Whelens just north of town at a plant, but I don't know if they test with the county or not.
One funny thing that happened here is about 5 seconds after my watch hit 11:00 AM sharp, a big chunk of snow fell off the bottom of my car and I about jumped out of my skin. I really need to stop being so nervous at siren tests.
All sirens in the county, aside from Whitewater and Ft. Atkinson are tested at 11 AM on the 1st Wednesday.
