When I hear this song it reminds me back in the day with my buddies walking home from school. We’d always stop at 7-11 for chili Fritos and a drink. My friend Tj had a boom box in his backpack and we would walk home with our chili Fritos jamming out to this song. Man! I miss the 90’s. Best friends, best summers and best music.

@@vaccineskillpeople3688 To be compleetly 100% with you, I miss BOTH decades. Hmmm.. might have something to do with my graduating high school in 1992! No, but when i really discovered Coolio I was a sophomore at Michigan state. He was so hard, and humorous.. like in this song the dudue singing alto on "when i was young, i used to have fun.." I believe it was on the second verse. or the entire song "can of corn", and "mama i'm in love with a gangster!" The main difference to me between this album and Gangsta's paradise is that you could actually feel what Coolio was really trying to get across; the way he really grew up was foreign to me, thank G-d!

You can't have the hop without the hip ! A true inspirational man, came off the streets with an addiction to crack, then went through a program that made you a fireman, then when he was ready he had a go at the rap game, but what people forget about Coolio is, his music was inspirational music which had a humble message. But around the time of his first releases, music was in its hard hitting gangster rap phase. And in those days, people weren't hearing it, but he still shone through. RIP Coolio, and thank you for your service to good music.

I got this as a casette single back in the day... I loved that the beat was so hard, but the production was on point that the funk could still come through AND the vocals aren't ever lost in the other sounds..... We played this every summer for years, whether it was rolling down to Run To The Sun or rolling around our roads, if the weather was good me and my lot would be blasting this from whatever crappy car we were using... The thing is, this tune makes even the most broken-down car feel like a Cali-style lowrider. Swear I saw a lady playing it whilst driving her mobility scooter and it bounced like she had sixteen switches.
