I grew up in London and when I was 14/15 (Back in 93/94) I used to watch 'Yo MTV Raps' and that's where I'd hear the latest tunes... This was before free downloads/rips - I'd record the shows on VHS then make lists of my favourite tracks, save my pocket money and head to the Black areas of the city like Brixton, Deptford & Catford to find what I could in the record shops (Import section usually)... As a redhead in my Miami Dolphins jacket I stood out but the shop workers/owners knew I had knowledge and we'd chat about artists and listen to vinyl records... The good old days! In my humble opinion, the best days/years for rap music... Today, I've had the urge to find a lot of my favourite songs here on KZbin and it's confirmed my belief that after 1997, this genre massively declined... I'll listen to artists like Naughty by Nature, Lords of the Underground, Ice Cube, 2Pac, Gang Starr and the Fu-Schnickens etc... Until I draw my last breath...
