I watched a Chet Atkins documentary o here a week ago and when people were talking about him they basically said what everyone in these comments are. I could never do. But yes. Yes you can. I can play Tommy’s tunes, granted not as great as he does, but I can. In that Chet documentary someone, his name escapes me currently, said “well I can’t be impossible. He’s playing it.” Take it a measure at a time if you have to. You can play it. You just can’t play it right now.
@whitelfner45823 жыл бұрын
@@adamlaxmusic I mostly agree with you, but some things, most just physically can't do. Like when Tommy's version of Classical Gas, where he anchors his thumb on the Low 'E' string, and moves his fingers over a 5 fret range. There might be a work around but it's pretty amazing. Love a reviewer who basically said he physically couldn't do that, and that it required 10's of thousands of hours to learn. Love discussing this, as I get to listen to this wonderful collaboration each time!

@chadwickerman18 күн бұрын
Actually galaxies wouldn't explode if they collide. There is so much space between the stars they's hardly touch. The gravitational mass of the larger galaxy would draw in the smaller one and absorb it into itself. There might be some instances of star colliding but not many on the whole. The black holes at the center of each galaxy would indeed end up circling each other and eventually colliding though, sending out powerful gravitational waves through spacetime.

Billy asks Tommy: "What are we gonna play?" Billy's guitar wasn't even tuned. That shows us there was no preparation for this. And then he rips into inprov. with one of the greatest guitarists on the planet. What a prodigious talent.

If there is a player, in this generation, that would be considered for the honour of being referred to as a CGP... it’s Billy. Simply amazing....I am sure Chet is looking down with a huge smile watching these two have fun.

Chet could convey the same depth of feeling playing 1/4 as many notes. But it's all good when you get to this league.

Growing up in Spartanburg, SC I remember watching Arthur Smith, who was born just down the road in Clinton, SC, on his Saturday show from Charlotte. Nice job by these 2 extremely talented men paying homage.
@sandburgmartin7947 Жыл бұрын
Hey Ken. Raised just outside of Charlotte. Folks do not realize the effect Arthur had on rock, soul, country, and BEACH MUSIC. From James Brown to Maurice Williams, Hazel Martin, then over to the bluegrass and old mountain styles. A man about everything. As a kid remembered his musicians Don Reno, David Deese, Wayne Haas, Ray Atwood and his wife, Tommy Faile, 'brother Ralph', George Hamilton iv, Donald Ange (keyboards) and others. Arthur Smith and the Crackerjacks, later "Carolina Calling" with Jim Patterson. Big lists, big names like Roy Clark, Glen Campbell, Ronnie Milsap, and even actor George Hamilton appeared on his show. His brother Sonny was also a big influence in their beginnings. Roots of regional American music, Arthur Smith.

@@sandburgmartin7947 You are so right. I remember "Carolina Calling." I am 64, and I used to love to watch the locally produced music shows. Can't get those anymore. Tommy and Billy went for a deep cut here.

@@sandburgmartin7947 you really took me back in time. Beach music and the Shag were popular when I was a teenager around town. Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs played a Christmas party at my work in 1978. He was pretty old by then. They must have played STAY about 6 times that night. 🙂
