For the last few months, people have been asking Tommy to play a mod that you might have never heard of, but is known as one of the hardest HOI4 mods on the Steam workshop.
This Hearts of Iron 4 mod is World Ablaze, a mod that makes WW2 in HOI4 more realistic and harder than ever.
Some say that it's impossible to hold France in this mod because everything is supposed to go historical like in WW2.
Well Tommy is here to try to beat this HOI4 challenge and show that you can hold France in one of the hardest Hearts of Iron 4 Mods, World Ablaze.

It’s interesting that the German tanks were not better than the French tanks. From the „hartstats“ most German tanks were worse than France tanks. But the tactic to massdeploy a huge amount of tanks in Divisions and the better tactical communication with radios allowed to defeat France.

AKSHUALLY, French tanks were better than their contemporary German counterparts. However, the French didn't maximize the effectiveness of their tanks because of their doctrine. So if they wanted to make it "realistic", early war french tanks should have better stats than German tanks but the bonuses from doctrines should be reduced (at least until the end of 1940)

No, doctrine in real life and doctrine in hoi4 are different. In real life the French doctrine failed because they spread their tanks across the entire front whereas Germany concentrated their tanks on a small section. You can't replicate that in game with a debuff. It's just troop positioning.

I think more factory’s but half the output allows it to be more real where for example doesn’t have to decide between having an actual army or making tanks. So it’s like real life where they can make a moderate army and shit tanks

Surviving as Germany in world ablaze is waaay harder since the time is working against you. You have to capitulate the Soviets while USA is invading, most of the times with super late game full mechanized army and alot of air. The factory change is so that the building of factorys is less impactful than the starting ones, making Germany even weaker

French tanks WERE actually better than the german ones, but lacked numbers, and they were put all across the frontline as infantry tanks instead of concentrated tank divisions, and ofc lacked radio. So you should still get tanks.

The French had superior tanks and planes compared to the German counterparts, but France simply didn't modernize their doctrines for the planes and tanks to be effective. One of the absolute best comparisons is, Frances tanks is like a fat kid, sure he can dish out some powerful punches but anyone can just simply out speed him

@K g My point still stands, the fact that France has "technically" existed as a country for more time gives it a substantial advantage when using "battles won" as a measurement. Moreover, I do not think that battles are necessarily an indicator of succes: for example, even though Napoleon I won around 60 battles and lost around 5-6 that I can remember (Bassano, Caldiero, Acre, Leipzig, Waterloo), he still lost in the end, thus making the 60 victory statistic misleading. For these reasons, I think that it makes little sense to talk of "battles won throughout history" in the first place, as that number doesn't really show us much, if anything.

Funny to think Germany had better tanks at the start of WWII, in fact french tanks were better on 1v1 basis, more armored and upgunned (total number were even IIRC), they just lacked radios for coordination and were dispatched in many division whereas Germany concentrated them for a greater effect.

Naaah men, i was ok with everything until i saw the french tanks pierced by the german one. Not only tanks, but Heavy tank. We were doshit in the air, our Marschals were, for most, drinking wine in chateau because they thought is gona be trench war v2, Petain got us drop our weapon BEFORE AN ARMISTICE and by doing that, thousands of french soldier were captured and used as hostage aggainst that fool. But man, the French B1 bis and the Soviet KV1 where the reason the german used the 88mm Flak canon as an antitank and decided to create the tiger. So technicaly The heavy tanks race of the late 1943 was, in some way, a cojoined efforts of French and Soviet engineere. I don't says thoses tanks were perfects, they were not, as all of the freaking tanks of WW2 and of today, and, honeslty they had a lot of problems. But one that is a complete myth is quality. French heavy tanks where far better. But for 1 B1 bis there was maybe 10 panzer 2 ? Maybe more ? And with better coordination.

@@jones877 Wouldn't make a difference. France's armed forces wasn't really keen on fighting a war when their own country is in a political crisis. So much so that some of their recruits and reserve-mobilised infantry would willingly surrender at the first glance of German infantry.
