Some of you might not know, but China has a really long history and this long history of theirs, one time they had a literal real life battle royale in the period preceding the Three Kingdoms. Today Tommy will learn more about the history behind games such as Dynasty Warriors and Total War: Three Kingdoms. This period is really interesting to listen to because it's actually insane how much stuff happens in such a short period.
REMEMBER! This is all educational and for entertainment! We will moderate comments, so behave yourself and keep it educational.

Ancient China and Rome knew about each other, but never directly interacted. Chinese travelers tried to, but Persia (Rome #1 enemy) told them that if they went to Rome they would have died, so they didn't. But still considered Rome their equal, or even an Empire greater than their own.

Chat really likes to answer questions it doesn't even know the correct answer to. The Romans and Greeks knew of the Chinese for awhile from trade goods flowing down the silk road and the occasional travelers. Romans and Greeks sometimes even referred to China as the Rome of the East - viewing them as almost an equal force to be reckoned with.

the only place that the Romans and Chinese had anything other than indirect trade contact was in Alexandria Escate where potentially the lost roman legion after the major defeat by the Parthians, settled. Then a few years later some Chinese and proto Huns were exiled/fleeing from a powerful Chinese Emperor and came across Alexanderia Escate and potentially fought against the a Testudo formation. This Alexandria is unique also because its the only place where the Buddha was deified in murals found in excavations.

Yes, the ancient Greek States and ancient China did know of each other, i believe that the chinese and Alexanders Empire even had a war about war horses, which the chinese called heavenly horses/ divine horses, because they where so good

Yes indeed there are Ancient Greek writings telling the story of far away lands far beyond the Persians. So at least for the Greeks I can confirm that at some point they encountered China or Chinese emperors

there was a war between Greek descendants from Alexander the greats canpaigns who settled down against the chinese over horses. and a Roman legend meet the Chinese along the Silk Road. The Dragons Blade is a good movie about the Romans and Chinese. it stars Jackie Chan. I recommend it.

A century ago, during the fall of the Xin Dynasty (who has usurped power from the Han for a few years), Liu Xiu fought at the Battle of Kunyang. Outnumbered 1:42, his army of only 10,000 defeated the Xin army of 420,000. 200,000 was nothing compared to the Han and Qin Dynasty’s armies in ancient times.

Shogun 2 was well received even though it was very limited in unit variety but had a solid foundation. I havn't played 3 kingdoms but I played the hell out of Shogun 2, ended up too dissapointed in Rome 2, and had good fun with warhammer but it didn't quite capture me like shogun 2. 3 kingdoms smells like a Rome 2 though. =\

I love TW 3k. Its definitely about the characters though, so if you don't care for the heros of the age, and the conflicts they have, it can be pretty bland. I say this as a White Westerner. The 3k period is exceptionally fascinating where as I never had any interest in Rome or Greece etc. Perhaps because I was forced in school.

I know for sure that ancient greeks new about the chinese after the period of Alexander the Great. There was also a war between a greek city (probably descentads of the greek army of alexander) that fought a war with the chinese. Search the war of the heavenly horses or sth like that i dont completely remember. Also there was a speculation 3years ago by some archaiologists that the stone soldiers in china were build with the help of some greek sculptors( they said they find ancient greek dna in some parts of china that the soldiers were made). So for sure the cultures met one another but i dont think that the average populace knew anything about the others.
