I think it’s because of the style of music. Most people wants to listen to music that is positive/ radio hits/ music that can be listened to over and over without negative feelings attached. For example Ed Sheeran is so successful because he is amazing at what he does but his music can be listened to over and over without feeling sad. Also he has very easy melodies and can be remembered / sung almost immediately after first listen.

It is such a strong powerful wave, I’ve been fighting for so long, wanting to be in the light, but the darkness is dragging me down. ‘What is happening to us?’ I fought for so long but I am in the depths. It is attacking every cell in my body. I gave it my all. But all I do know is that I am exhausted. Completely and utterly. Depression is a disease that is ‘all in my head, all in my mind’. @jessicarichardson458 For so many years I thought there was something wrong with me because I'm so different from the others, I don't enjoy the same things that the others enjoy, I don't see the things like they do. A couple of years ago I went to the doctor for a physical condition and somehow ended up taking antidepressants. I really understand what you said. I really agree with you and I think it's something really sad and heartbreaking because some days you want to get better, you want to "have fun..be happy" you try your best to get out of the darkness and be better. Then, there are these days when you want to give up because everything is draining you and you feel like it's consuming every single part of your body, soul and life. I don't know if it's going to get better, I don't know if we are going to look in the mirror without questioning what is happening to us, or if there will be something that makes us feel like we fit and that we don't need a better body, and that we don't need to be perfect. All that I know is that it hurts so much and that the existence of this song and songs like this one can make us feel less outsiders and less numb or paralyzed.

I heard this song on tiktok and decided to give it a listen and I'm so glad I did. Really I'm glad songs get 'tiktokified' or popular because gatekeeping, in my opinion, hurts the song and reason for music in the long run-why have something you admire if you refuse to show it off? Really, I think the reason for music is to share it, even if someone doesn't necessarily relate to it-just so they can get a perspective of a different life. To gatekeep and deny the opportunity for someone to learn and possibly relate or understand an experience is such a shame
