It was a flashback. When Nagisa was dying, Tomoya had a lot of flashbacks. These flashbacks included little scenes that weren't in episodes. Such as that one. ^^

This anime was/is sooo good!! it realy touched me i cryd/had tears in my eyes lots of times. it so remmindet me of my self 2 years ago i hade quite the same experience as Tomoya "sad" BUT life goes on and i soud not dwell in the past^^ i have to live for my little baby girl and be Happy and Cheerfull now!!

I love this video so much, and the song is so touching! It fits the relationship of Ushio and Tomoya perfectly :) Clannad I think, is the saddest anime I have ever seen and I love it so much. I cried like Ive never cried before when I watch the After Story. You gotta feel so bad for Tomoya tho, everyone he loved is being taken away from him, and he is such a good guy. I'm just happy it had a happy ending :) Thank you for making this video, it reminded me of how much I really love Clannad

@Yuuki1vampire Depends. Clannad is in the sphere of multiple dimensions and stuff like that. So Nagisa and Ushio both died in an different dimension, wiitch Tomoya saw. But in the end it tirned out it wasn't the dimension he lived in... kind of... So tecnically: From the moment Nagisa died (cried my damn heart out) it was all a memory that never would take place... sort of...

I guess he could have died from a broken heart first losing Nagisa and then Ushio but to me it seemed more like he passed out because the illusionary world was created by Ushio feeling so guilty for leaving Tomoya alone
