I think that all of the upright auger machines feed unevenly as they basically sweep with the bottom of the auger which is like an arm pushing the feed onto the conveyor. That only happens once every revolution. People seem to manage that by changing ground speed or doubling back on thin spaces.

Hey Tom, we went from a Keenan to a tub mixer almost identical to that one. We would never go back, never liked the Keenan really. We run it on a 100 hp tractor and it never struggles. We find it takes 5 or 6 mins to mix and doesn’t seem to matter which order you add the ingredients. Once your under a ton left to feed out we put it in high box and give it some revs and it usually empties out completely.

With the feed left on the augers, it needs some revs to get it off. We have a Strautmann verti mix 1251 without a gearbox (so we are stuck with one gear), so we really have to put the "pedal to the metal" to get it all off. I mean it gets mixed in the next day anyways and it isnt a problem in the winter. In the summertime however it starts to heat up really quick, especially with our 70% maize in the ration (we raise beef cattle). Imo it would be best to get it as empty as possible. Other than that we really love it and wouldnt do without anymore. btw: Really nice video as always! If you ever feel too stressed, take some time off of YT, health and family are more important!

Where I work we run an rs agri tub feeder with a cow connect system. With a tub feeder you have to feed with the augers. You can’t always go a constant speed and often have to slow down/ speed up. When they are ‘empty’ you’ve got to put them at full chat in order to get the grub off. If you’ve got a really full box, then you might notice that they feed out better in on one side than the other (as in which way the belt is going). This is because the auger pushes feed out the door in the direction the auger spins, so the conveyor has to fight against that motion when going the opposite way. They do mix very well and you can put bales in them, unlike a Keenan. You can also properly brim tub feeder to the point it overflows and it should still mix well. Unlike Keenan’s

I have used a Keenan feeder a 20 cubic meter to feed about 15,000 lambs in feed lots. Over here it is a struggle to finish lambs on pasture as there is none, The Keenan is a good reliable machine, the hay chopper that supports the bales and cuts as goes in is invaluable for sheep, it also protects the mixer paddles is a biscuit of hay falls behind the paddles it will bend the paddle or stall the tractor. Providing you keep up with the maintenance very little trouble, we have snapped the feed out auger twice. The tyres are truck super singles, so we have tyres given to us form the truck driver that deliver hay, and barley. on the case 120 we can feed 4 tonnes, the new tractor a Case 150 ( same tractor as yours) we can manage 6 tonnes My only gripe is the discharge is on the left, a stretch for the spools valves when feeding. If the discharge was on the right it would be a 100% machine.

If you have the triolet if the small bits of rubber that stop muck going down by the roller come off the belt will keep moving and start moving and ruining the belt and wont run straight so remeber if the rubbers come off then put then immediately back on or the main belt will start breaking and rubbing against the side.

Used a Sherborne tub mixer and it was brilliant. We did have to put the pto in 1000 to get the feed off the augers. Is much worse when new, once it shines up its much better!

My 1st tmr mixer was a Trioliet single auger. Currently have a Trioliet twin auger 2-1600. Run with a JD 6400. Absolutely love it. Very heavy duty. Run alot of hay and baleage.

I always put in forage 1st. Grains and mineral always last. Also use your own instinct on mixing time.

there are lots of + sides of using a tub mixer, you can even throw in whole big bales in there. Downside is there will always be leftovers on the screws. On our tubfeeder we dont open the hatch all the way too get more even feeding. though we have stationeery feeder run on electricity with delaval belt feeding system down the barn :)
