Excellent video again. Only thing I would add that might be worth considering is to use a dry marker to mark components that can be refitted in a different orientation such as the burrs. This would remove any possible errors with burr alignment etc. 👍

Thanks so much for this. It was very well explained. I have this exact brand of grinder and it stopped grinding after 7 months. The company in Italy was very slow to respond but eventually after several attempts over a period of 2 weeks someone finally replied and suggested I clean the burrs. I used your video as a guide and it seems to have fixed the problem. I was afraid I was going to have to ship the grinder back to Italy for repair under warranty.

One thing about oils is that after the early rancid stage of oxidation they produce many chemicals, including tars and waxes that soap does not remove. Also, if you remove the oils with soap and leave a bit of soap residue behind, it will combine with oils to form a grease that can oxidize to something resembling polyurethane paint. You need to clean until all the oil is removed and then make sure that all the soap is rinsed away. Failure to do this with a non-stick pan can ruin it, and failure to do this on steel can leave a residue that requires very harsh chemicals and mild abrasives to remove, like Barman's Friend. All of this chemistry is the basis of the art of French polishing with walnut oil.
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that good information, Tom! I read the directions, and they say you can use a neutral cleaner - whatever that means. I just wiped the oils off of mine, and brushed the coffee grounds off with a brush, then polished a bit with a rag. Cheers!

i have read that dark roast and/or humidity create repeated clogging that prevents either finer grinding or operation of the machine. Would this cleaning alleviate that ? Does this machine have a feature or design that causes frequent clogging with dark ( oilier ) beans ? Very helpful video, thank you.

Must admit, as I use a custom single-dose hopper with a blower-bulb that blows out the last of the grind, I haven't opened my MS for over 4 years... but today it seemed to be grinding with nothing coming out? Then slowed to a stop, with the timer still counting down. So now I know where the screw is hiding I'll take it apart! Wish me luck...
@bigglyguy8429

Pro-tip, before taking it apart, use a whiteboard marker to show exactly how it was together. I had a terrible grind when I put it together, until I rotated the bottom burr. Had I marked it's position I'd have saved myself an afternoon of head-scratching and messing around.

Well if you let the burrs abut for too long, you will put a strain on the motor, and it may overheat. But touching for a moment will not hurt anything.

I got a reply from Eureka. Dear Alejsndro, The label is a reference that should not be taken as a standard. In fact, it is attached manually, so the value of the zero point of the burrs will differ from model to model. Instead, I advise you to find your own zero point and take the reference number as the value to consider. Furthermore, it would be useless to consider the zero point corresponding to the zero on the label as this value changes slightly with the wear of the burrs.

Eureka's equivalent didn't and was all style over substance, with an annoying musical beat that made it hard to conentrate and focus and visualize actually doing this as I followed along. Here's another they did for cleaning the chute on these grinders. I have no idea what the thing they're turning with the yellow handle is, a tiny T-handled screw driver? They don't say what size or give a look at the tool. I wouldn't even know how to order one to do this job since I don't know what it is and they don't say. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJWZc6GMoM6ji9k
