Outboard Motor Controls - Mercury Binnacle

We have a video of how to remove this binnacle control box on our channel making this the follow up to that video. In this video we're re-installing that Mercury (same as Quicksilver too) binnacle style control box onto a new Pontoon Stuff standard console. @@tomspontoons yep, the boot that everything comes through under the helm. Was so excited to get everything hooked up I forgot to put the boot on. After reconnecting the steering wheel and controls I had to disconnect, fit the boot and then reconnected. I'm now expert level! Thanks again for all the videos.

Where is the throttle tension adjustment for this model? Whenever I throttle up it always falls back down without me holding it.

Off the top of my head if there is a tension adjustment I believe it's under the cover on the forward portion of the control.

Tom, I ended up with the top of the box coming apart and now it doesn't move the shift cable when i put back together.. what did i do, or where can i find a diagram?

You should be able to search the part number for your control box and find a schematic.

Hey boss, does that control box use Gen 2 cables?

These are Gen1 cables for this box. Gen 2 doesn't have the black plastic barrel on the control box side, it has a machined notch in the cable end to hold it in place for the cable to move inside the sheathing. The motor side looks the same with the adjustable plastic barrel.

Will it work on a 60 hr moter Johnson

You’ll have to get an aftermarket control for Johnson/Evinrude motors. This one will not work for anything but Mercury.

I really like the new control box from Mercury, but if you like the classic I'm pretty certain this is the exact same box (I found it on ebay): New Mercury OEM Binnacle/Concealed Console Mount Remote Control Kit 88688A26
