Great review! I have been twice and going back in March. It’s good value for the money. Makes the wife happy so I can check that box. I normally take 400 in ones and fives for tipping. It’s amazing the attention you get with tipping, Great vacation

Great review Tom. I was at the Ambar in April, and I will be back again this April. You have done a great review. Have to say though that I had no complaints whatsoever. I have also stayed at the Aquamarine and the Esmerelda (twice, it was once adults only). This resort to me is top notch. Have stayed in many others in Punta Cana.

Thanks Spartan. I just came back from Mexico now from another brand's resort and i must admit that the Bahia Principe's i visited last 2 years (Ambar, Cayo Levantado) are giving a great value in return for what you pay.

Thanks Mark, i would love to have more subscribers but unfortunately i'm limited in the amount of time i can put into this and also the number of reviews i can do. I guess the more you do videos the more audience you can reach. I will revisit my strategy and will try to optimize my content when i go on vacations. Was recently there. Had this type room with the king bed but near the main pool area. It's a beautifully place. The buffet was great. The resort restaurants were just ok. Drinks were awesome through out resort.

I'm not a picky eater. There was a whole vegetarian section at the buffet. But i wouldn't say it's a 5 stars for food. Variety was good enough for breakfast and lunch. Still had my omelette every mornings though. :) But the buffet area is big. For diner we went à la carte.

Hi Thomas, I booked the swim-up with the agency as soon as I discovered it because it was around 600$ less than other offers of the same type per person : Excellence Playa Mujeres to name one. But I did requested a corner’s swim-up at the front desk though and I arrived before others with a private transfer. Since it’s your honeymoon you should have your agency to request that package to the hotel, upgrade to the swim-up and take a private transfer with a bottle of Champaign :) I used www.Transfers.do and it cost me 100$ CAD round trip with 2 beers. The return isn’t necessary though. Thanks for watching!

Hello Tom! I have a quick question about this resort, I'm thinking about coming here after the pandemic rules are relaxed, I have an airline credit to use up! My only thing is, I am Vegan and I'm just wondering if you remember if there were lots of veg on offer? Or if they seemed accommodating for dietary needs? I know Dominican is more difficult, but this place seems lovely, and I'd love to try it! Thanks for your great videos! Super helpful😁

We were there in early November 2020 the food at the Sport Bar Food sucked. Other than that everything else was beautiful. Loved the rooms, pool and the beach was awsome.

We are headed here in Nov 2019! First time to DM and curious about snorkeling. Can you walk straight out from the resort into the ocean and snorkel or is that allowed or advised? I know the Caribbean will be very different from Hawaii which is what we have done many times. Trying to decide if we should bring out own gear or not worry about it if we do an excursion where its provided. Thank you and thanks for the great video!

Hi there, yes it's allowed but i didn't spent so much time snorkeling but the water was pretty clear at 30-40 feet from the shore. If you swim farther i'd bet it's even better. I also can't compare it versus Hawaii as I've never been there yet. If you have a good place to suggest i'd be happy though! I'd recommend bringing your own gear in the Caribbean as the equipment provided can be clunky sometimes. Thanks for watching!

Hi Marko, the restaurant I do not recommend at the Ambar is the MEAT. For both of us it was disgusting and our table neighbors didn’t looked delighted neither. The other restaurant I cancelled the reservation to go at the Sports bar instead was the Portofino. But only because we went once at our previous trip of the same brand at Cayo Levantado resort. But it still was better than the MEAT here :) Thanks for watching!

Salut, Je crois bien que tu parles français :) Nous irons au Ambar en avril et on a très hâte! Nous sommes des habitués de la chaine Bahia Principe (Mexique 3 fois et Jamaique 2 fois) et on a toujours été très satisfaits. Les Bahia offrent vraiment un excellent rapport Qualité/prix. Ta vidéo est vraiment bien faite et tu donnes de très bonnes informations . Tu disais que tu avais été aux restos à la carte je crois pour la majorité de tes soupers alors je me demandais lesquels tu recommande et surtout quels sont ceux à éviter (S'il y en a bien sur). Encore une fois bravo pour ta vidéo et bonne journée.

Salut Alain, je n'ai pas eu une bonne expérience au restaurant MEAT. Nos steaks étaient pleins de tirasse. Tous les autres aucun problèmes. Tu dois essayer le Sports bar la journée que tu arrives.

Block 68 - room 117. From my notes, I would say avoid those rooms - 62101 electric boxes in the yard, 60108 beside main pool, 60117 - besides Backyard shed, 61101 - Backyard Shed view. I would say in general to avoid blocks 60 to 63, they have one side facing Bavaro avenue which is the line between Ambar and Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana. (Orange blocks). Best blocks for the swim-ups are to my opinion : 65, 68, 69. They are in the middle of everything.

Hi Alan, i think it worth it, but get the corner one. The beach has a lot of chairs and you should have plenty of place going early december.

Yes it does. It's all-inclusive. Some extras like massages and spa aren't included but i still got a free 30 minutes spa to tryout.

Yes very good price. I've just checked and the difference between Corner and non-corner is only 120$ per person for the same flight. This is totally worth it.

This resort is adult-only. But Fantasia Bahia Principe nearby is perfect for kids of all ages. Personally i visited 2 bahia principe already, so my two options with kids would be #1 - Dreams Punta Cana or #2 - Royalton Splash Punta Cana (Named Memories Splash before.)

Well you can go see them. If you're not interested locking yourself in for 10-20k, set your timer on your phone after 1 hour you leave the place and ask for your gifts. You tip US dollar usually. Personally i tip everytime the first 3 days and then i slow down until i leave.

Hi Stephen, don't bother with Peso. Bring with you some USD bills they can also provide some change at the desk. It's an adult-only resort, within a 7 resorts complex. I don't know for local market unfortunately. There's about 20 souvenir shops but i doubt that's what you're looking for.
