Brilliant thank you, better than reading the instruction booklet. Before lockdown left for a tour of the French Alps, UK to Santander by boat, Santander to Hendaye, through the alps on the French Spanish border, to Cerbere, then home via central France, the Tunnel sus le Manche and back to Wales. Problem was on the journey outbound, on the way to the to to the ferry port my old Sat Nav stopped working. It was an old Tom Tom and i had to call into a motorcycle dealership on the way and had to buy this Tom Tom Rider 550. They fitted it in record time and i eventually was on time for the Ferry to Santander. /now , the problem for me was that i had to try to learn most of these functions by the seat of my pants. No knowledge other than a printed manual and no time to read it. I got by with trial and error and did not understand all of the features. So now after lockdown and a 15 months later, i thought "is there anyone on youtube to show how to use all the features" rather than use the manual. So thank you very much, you have made it so easy for me. Now it is upward and onward, a brill' sat nav. By the way my old tom tom was 12 yrs old and i found out on returning that it was not being supported by tom tom anymore and that is why my screen went blank on the way to the ferry : )

I'm in the US. I'm looking to upgrade my ancient nav system. I've been told that Tomtom units work better in Europe while Garmin is the way to go in North America. Anyone know if there is any truth to this? I am leaning toward a Tomtom. I just like the way they are set up (battery life, mounting system, etc).

No need of internet access to calculate your trip, access the points of interest, etc... The wifi connection is for updates or to send a trip or destination to the GPS from a computer...

This review ended for me when the back button didn't respond to your finger tap. Imagine with gloves on. Garmin XT is too good the bar is very high IMO
