4 жыл бұрын

We've shot a few Cobra replicas but this is the first time we've shot a real 1967 Shelby Cobra! It's actually the first time I've ever been in one and Tomy Drissi didn't hold back. Donuts, burnouts and a lot of laughs.
Sit back and enjoy the ride...

That car doesn't have the 427 engine in it despite what the fender badges say, it's a little know fact about those cars that most of them were actually built with the 428 engine, notice how that car doesn't have side pipes but instead it has the out the back dual tailpipes, that's how you can tell, and just because one may have side pipes still isn't a guarantee that it's actually the 427 engine because over the years some people put side pipe kits on them. Despite the fact that they all had 427 fender badges the street cars had the out the back exhaust and 428 engines, only the competition cars had the 427 side oiler engines and and came with side pipes.

Hearing Tommy say (SIC) you can really feel it by the seat of your pants, reminds me of my father teaching me to drive. See, I live near Toronto Ontario, in Canada, just north of Highway 7, the ice and snow belt as we call it, and my Dad really helped me understand that, you need to 'feel' what the car is doing in the ice and snow by 'the seat of your pants' and to this day, the modern cars we drive with all their electronics and ABS, there is no 'feel' like what he taught me. Even the cars of the 80's that I grew up driving are way better in the ice and snow IMHO compared to a modern 'electrified' car of today, regardless of the manufacturer. (just my humble opinion folks so please don't turn this into a troll thread for the sake of the above mentioned video.)

The 1st actual Cobra I ever saw in person(real or replica) was a real 427 S/C in 1983. It was on PCH in Malibu CA at a gas station, it was on a lift getting one of it's side exhaust collectors welded up as it had cracked a bit. I was 17 at the time, about to start college and the mechanic on duty notices that I'm checking out the Cobra, he comes up to me and says, "Yeah, it's real!" The replica market was in it's infancy at that time and most replicas were disproportioned messes IMO. To this day, I haven't seen a replica, tribute or otherwise come close to looking like the real deal. Notice the fenders on a real 427, the replicas are always off in this area, even the Supeformance cars don't look exactly as an original(even though they claim to). The originals sit lower on their frames, the rear fenders are larger & more curvy. Look closely at a real 427 and you'll look at a replica and know it's not the real deal. There was a comment on how this 427 didn't seem to run well.... the restrictive exhaust has a lot to do with how this Cobra sounds(or lack thereof). Many later 427 Cobras actually had 428 P.I. V8s installed, not sure if this Cobra is one of them(Shelby said once it was due to a shortage of 427 engines). I read it was just to get the remaining 427 cars out the door since both the 428 and 427 share the same FE big block, 'ol Shelby might've pulled a fast one on the public....lol
