In July 1999, Horta, Catalonia, we did a lot of night parties in a classmate's house. There was a boy very fond about computers, electronic, technology. He brought one night some cds in his box and played all night long this music. Those cds were the Ministry Of Sound series, and specially the Trance Nation 4 and Clubbers Guide To Trance mixed by ATB. I fall in love wiith trance and that summer we flew for the first time to Ibiza because in Amnesia or Eden, Tiësto, Armin or Paul Van Dyk was playing some nights. We visited Ibiza for the music, but Ibiza was a place for discovered yourself. The spirit of Ibiza was the best of this adventure, not the djs, not the clubs. Maybe, there is a time, a place to change your mind about life, about everything. Ibicencos and their acient traditions made great the island, don´t forget this!

How this is typed out it sounds like a woman wrote it, I'm just trying to understand your comment better not to be rude. Your really lucky though in your ventures of 1999 at the time I was living in Vegas and at the clubs it was all 21+ so Raves at the Clubs were out for me but not the Punk and Rock concert's I seen like at a place I went to often called The Huntridge in my early teen years.

I'm from Barcelona too, and though in my teens when I started going out by mid 90s makina (Spanish eurodance) was all around, some great trance tracks (from Jam & Spoon, Fisher in Trance...) and German hard-trance (from Gary-D, Sunbeam, Cocooma...) were sometimes played in avant-garde clubs. Those sounded awesome, as if they came from the future. Then in 1999 in the newly opened Fnac I stumbled upon Ministry of Sound "Clubbers Guide to Trance". Oh boy. Those creamy sounds, pumping basses, angelical voices, elaborated melodies aka "tune!" got me crazy about that - at the time modern - trance. All the way many Trance Nation s after till 2004. No wonder many consider those trance classics the golden era of that amazing genre. Lucky you who could live it in Ibiza those years. I had my share in some festival in the Netherlands :)

@@iordeebeat But people from Valencia or Catalonia were much more suited to the more powerful sound or with more Bpms, and that is why the melodic sound never finished fiting in these clubs. My friend had a father who was very into technology and that is why he used to go Fnac, so he had much more knowledge of foreign music scene than I did. It's funny that the same thing happened to us with those compilations, as soon as all those melodies started playing I was hooked on that softer sound. In the inside booklet of the cd's explained a bit about the clubber explosion that was happening on the white island and we decided to go to one of those trance music parties. Once in the streets of Dalt Vila we discovered that there were some parties like Manumission that had a massive expectation. But in those days, there wasn't such a big difference when it came to having a kind of sound in each session, everything was more generic. Many kinds of music were playing in the clubs and around. On the other hand, it was incredible to see how the trance had ended up generating a legion of loyal followers among the British, and that made all the djs put those songs. The Dutch or Belgian influence was far from there, the most important thing was the British public. It is difficult to find a better mix than the dreamy sunsets in the west of Ibiza and after a great night with good music, they are great memories. I stay with all the people who share the passion for this music, which became our soundtrack during those years and surely made us happier. By the way, it is 25 years since the inauguration of the FNAC of the Illa Diagonal.

@@zettame9403 You may have thought that i was a woman because of emotions in the message, but in truth, the girls liked house music much more in those times. And that was also an important factor for clubs like Pachá with the Subliminal parties with Erick Morillo to be so successful or of course the legendary Manumission. I can remember everybody talking in the white narrow streets of Dalt Vila about Manumission. They invented a bit of public relations in disguise. For my taste, as I am much more classic, the clothes and the competition between the clubs began to be much more aggressive. Something totally incompatible with the spirit of the island.

You're lucky to experience spirit of Ibiza in earlier years in life. I always wanted to go there, but was never able to. I'm over 40 now and not sure if I actually want to go to rave parties, but trance music - I'll always listen to it!

I bought this vinyl years ago. But i know this track from trance nation 4. I was 16 years old. Now i listen to Black Metal and Trance to 36 old years but this .. This will remain one of the best trance tracks ever. Bow down and listen to this mysterious divine track. Written by Carl Daniel. Maybe this man comes from the future and deserves respect. Many years have passed and it's always nice to listen to it. The whole 9-minute track is beautiful. It will probably remain my favorite track ever. Greetings from Italy.

From Trance to Black Metal!? What happened, did you have a bump on the head? 😉

I went from metal "not black metal, but just metal" in the very early 90's to Trance. Although both very different styles of music, one thing they often share in a similar manner is the heavy bass.

Deep chills down my lower back, holy goodness. First time ever hearing this. I am about to get seriously deep into trance (again) but this time more informed instead of random mix cd-rs found in my buddies’ van. Any and all recommendations for 2000’s house, trance, progressive, etc. please please let me know. So far I am looking into Bedrock Records, Generation Records, and Trance Nation, Vol. 4.
