Nice exploration of the digital handpan's capabilities. In your capable hands & connected to your looping system I can't wait to hear where you take this wonderful new instrument. Since it is digital, I assume it might have some interesting interface ports that would allow some very creative signal post processing: like shift the octave range up & down, add reverb, remap to different sound palette, etc?

It is really a new instrument … becouse I don’t consider it to be hang…. It’s different, more versatile and in my opinion more percussive and flexible. It’s really a great great addition to my arsenal

Youre asking in the title for comments on the instrument. My feeling is no this is not a game changer in and of itself. However lets be clear here, digitalización as of a way if life is changing the game pretty radically, and from my perspective, I can't honestly say for the better. I get your point perfectly. Nothing will ever be like the original panart hang (that I still have and play). But this is far more versatile, you can change scale and most important I will play it live in my sets . The hang is a nightmare to mic and definitely not switable for clubs. I have my take on this one, more percussive and cutting thru the mix beautifly

One thing is you could play it without annoying the neighbors 😅 I'm with you on this one. In all honesty not really impressed with neither the sound nor the concept.. The composition and playing... Now that's a different conversation 🔥🙏❤️🙏🔥

I also have an original PanArt , actually the first model. The point here is that it’s more versatile (you can change scale) and I can easily add it into my live performance. The original hang is a pain to mic and definitely not suitable for a high volume, club or stage situation. If played alone nothing beat the hang but this one it’s really really close. My take it is that it’s not a “replacement” but a totally NEW percussive instruments. I’m really shocked for how good it responds. At NEOTONE They did a GREAT job believe me !!! It’s a great instrument for live performance

@@tribalneed yes thanks for your response. And I can see from that perspective you're right. If it's a matter of practicality then this wins hands down (excuse the pun!). Same as synths in truth. It was hard to get a complete orchestra into most studios and venues.. let alone pay for one! 😅

Nope , most strokes are too intense and the notes don't reverberate into one another like the real thing. #Nadishana did some amazing work with a wide selection of handpan drums. Look him up and listen carefully. 😁

@@tribalneed Good approach, it's not a replacement. It's a digital instrument in the shape of a handpan, you could do the same with a MIDI keyboard and the right software. For live performances it would indeed be much easier. While I can imagine at a club it would be hard to make a handpan ring, I would assume that when you used a handpan in live performances you tried a pick up (instead of just a microphone pointed at it) like the Muling H1 or better hooked to an amp which would give quite the loud volume.

i have tried with pickups ... it sounds really not good. much much better this one. And the feeling and the touch is really replicationg the Hang feeling perfectly. The sound it will never be the same as the original (especially for totally acoustic set) but it's much more convenient and versatile for stage performance. A normal midi keyboard won't have the same feeling. This thing is really being conceived with playability and sounds in mind. Im actually blown away, couldn't belive it myself an instrument could be so close to the real Hang

Yes it is. The real hang will alwause have its place (o have the original one from Panart). This is “another” instrument. This one will allow me to take t in the road and being more versatile. You can change scale and most important it’s not a nightmare to Mic. All the other instruments are easy to get the sound jsy using a SM58 bit the hang is very difficult to mic expecially in loud environment. This one goes strait into the mixer, I see it as a different “percussion with sounds” bent my why of playing it is more percussive. At the end it is a NEW instrument, an incredible one !!!
