Growing up, he was always my favorite. There was Page, Clapton, Beck and a few other blues rocking guitarists in that era that changed the guitar and blues and beyond forever, but there was this something next dimension about Hendrix. Impossible for me to put into words. Another thing people rarely talk about, especially up until KZbin, where we can see performances by him and anyone else, plus all their interviews is that all the footage of Jimi being interviewed and just him having a conversation, he was always so shy, mild mannered, lacking self confidence and introverted. But when he got up on stage with his guitar, he almost literally turns into a monster. Seemed super confident and would own the stage and the audience. It was like there were two different people. The transformation was like no other.

Inhabiting all the blues and jazzy blues infused rock spaces he could as he went on. Each version I encounter of 'Red House', Jimi's more well known than other blues tunes he penned in to action on his guitars, one of my favourites alongside the many are The Live At Winterland Concerts and other blu3s songs such as the imaginary bar room scene song, "My Friend.", and the various blues standards such as "Hoochie Coochie Man,", and, "Hear My Train A Comin'.", and, I will iterate, what a tragic loss it was to only live until he was only 27, with such an almost Gawd Aaaaaalmighty given, hard earned gift as the talent he had worked so hard for. Astonishing, and still, to this day and evermore one of life's absolutely brilliant one offs. Guitar Hero.

Mein Text zu seinem 75sten Geburtstag: Jeff Beck: "Hendrix tat genau, was ich wollte. Ich konnte bloß nicht." Was wäre gewesen, wenn...?

I've seen him in concert. He was great for the times. A true innovator but I've also seen very many modern day players who can play what he did and far more. The playing today is by far the greatest I've ever seen or heard. So many greats alive and dead playing so many styles, so fast, shredding and complex lines and effects. Hendrix was a great influencer and helped raise the bar to what it is today!

The work's cut out for you. Now start studying!!!

So, up to 0:33 its just the Strat into the Marshall with volume low. Than volume turned up. To full? The Marshall modified? Then at 0:52 he kicks in the Fuzz Face?
@bluesberryjams4 күн бұрын
@@tzurby yep he did that with a lot of songs. He was the master of letting his volume tone dictate a lot of the character of tone. He didn’t tap dance or mess with his tone much. It was usually volume and flipping neck and bridge pick ups 👍🏼
@tzurby3 күн бұрын
@@bluesberryjams Thanks. That's what I expected. But then the outstanding - and trademark - tone of Hendrix (here: all the three: tamed volume, full volume, + FF) must come from some modifications in his Marshalls. I did not go very deep into that, but I read that he used Tung Sol 6550 tubes and got more modifications. To me it sounds as if there is some treble booster engaged. The amp is very touch sensitive and sounds like it is on the verge of exploding, so to speak.
