The colored pencils I bought were actually ERASABLE, something I didn't realize until they arrived. I bought them because they were advertised as working well on toned paper, because they are "highly opaque" according to JetPens, so they stand out from the background or something. Anyways, I'm always excited to try new art supplies. They did work well, although I noticed a more than usual amount of the pencil building up on my hand and smearing across the paper than I was used to with the Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils I've grown more accustomed to.
Here's the art supplies I used today:

i like to imagine the superpower you described as "tagging" every, let's say, pebble in a certain area, then rolling back the time 100 years to the past, with the pebbles still tagged, and then you could walk around the world with a special pair of glasses that would highlight everything that has been tagged in the future. perhaps the highlighting would work even through walls and even the earth, so if you looked below you and something was on the other side of the planet you would see a tiny spec. yes i have also daydreamed about this :)

I think the term for that "connections" power in fiction is "Psychometry", where you can read the history of an object. Personally, I think about the same thing: I think about the manufacturing of different products I see whenever I'm bored somewhere, everything has a story

Hullo Peter, I am going to say that this drawing feels like something from “Forbidden Planet” it is nothing specific about it, but it just does! I have been converted to better paper for years now. Knowing that whatever I do is on the best surface I can afford! I know that many people believe Pastelmat is one of the best surfaces for quality artwork! I am more of a watercolor paper person, since starting working with soft pastels my range of papers and surfaces has expanded dramatically. I have even started using different “grounds” treatments for papers, even panels that will accept different mediums. From watercolors and color pencils to acrylic ink washes to fountain pen inks too! I am very excited about you posting your artwork for sale and I hope to be able to afford a Peter D original! Stay safe, be well and have yourself a lovely day!

I've forever been obsessed with the idea of being immortal, but at the same time, with people not being possibly able to be aware of my existence. I think that counts as a super power. Like, being able to go to a café and make myself a coffee and sit at one of the tables, but for some reason, no one sits at that table and the barista doesn't offer that table, unaware of the reason. Like being in the corner of everyone's eye but going completely unperceived. Idk if I can even explain what I mean. Kinda like that buzzing sound some fluorescent lamps and neon lights make, that you are not aware of until someone turns the light off, at which moment you're like "huh, I didn't notice that sound was annoying me", you were hearing it, but it just went through your brain inadvertently. And just wander around the universe witnessing it all, until the end of times or until I say "I think I'm done and ready to move on"

Nicely done! This one seems a little more planful/preconceived than your typical approach (which has greatly influenced my ability to loosen up when drawing). As you added the layers/views to the inside of the head, it reminded me/I recalled you mentioning that one of your early influences is Stephen Biesty’s Incredible cross-sections book. I really appreciate these types of visualizations. Your use of color and shading is also nicely handled and helps to focus our attention into the windows to the internal layers. Always a pleasure to watch and listen… thank you!!!

Have you tried Canson Mi-Teintes portrait sheets? Lots of colour variety and you don’t have to suffer the ring bound nonsense. How do you like the Uni Colorerase? If you like the thicker core, I highly recommend Derwent Lightfast and Caran d’Ache Luminence. I think you have the excellent and lightfast Faber Castell Polychromos, yes? Just thought I would mention the Derwent because their price has gone down recently; most art stores price match. I mention the Luminence too because you can acquire some very interesting colors in their range (open stock is a bonus). Do you watercolour often? I feel that your drawing style would be beautiful over a free form watercolour underpainting.

If I could have a superpower I'd choose something similar - the ability to have clear knowledge of things from the past. Even if it was just some part, eg one city, my own ancestors, one object, etc. I try and think of superpowers that wouldn't give me responsibility or obligation though. Knowing history perfectly I'd probably be obligated to help forensic investigations and having actually done that work I am not enthusiastic about that idea. I liked the purple landscape-esque elements in this drawing.

The super power I want is to be able to view any place I'm standing at the time how it looked however many years ago in the past as I wanted, like real-time. So I could stand in the center of town square and wish to see that place 68 million years ago, then get a vision of that exact place (accounting for the movement of tectonic plates and such) at that point, flora and fauna and all. I wouldn't be at risk of being like.. squished by rocks, or drowned by water, or burnt by lava or anything since it would just be a real-time reality-accurate vision of that time in space. I would be quite the savant in the biological and evolutionary sciences if I could do that.

I have a similar but different super-power fantasy. It is to be able to predict and control the 'Butterfly Effect'. My super-hero name would be 'The Nudge' because I could do subtle little things and I would know the exact effect it would have at some point in the future. I could use this to deal with super-villians or anything else I chose to do. So whereas Peter wants omniscient knowledge of where things came from I want knowledge over what would happen in the future due to small actions on my part.

You could understand ead\talk\communicate natively to computers, spiders, whales, trees, Rocks, crystals, planets, stars, galaxies, everything. You could listen to the internet and understand and speak back to all that is going on there. There would be no mathematical theorem or equation you did not understand.

How do you price your art exactly... I mean, what makes a 500$ art 500$ and another one 100$? How can an artist even place money on his art. With paintings it must be extremely hard, especially with those that arent round numbers. What is the process?
@peter_draws

Yeah it’s not a logical thing. It’s a lot of my gut, a combination of how long I spent on it and how much the art supplies cost, how big it is and how nice the mediums/supplies are, how much I like it and how good I think it is, how proud I am of it.
