Speaker geek here... - Speaker "compression" is a bit of a misnomer, occurs due to the voice coil heating up increasing DCR. It occurs over multiple seconds when driving the speakers very hard, and is not heard as compression since it's a "compressor" with seconds-long attack & release. - "Different frequencies come through the cone at different spots" is a misunderstanding. At low frequencies, it basically moves as a unit (pistonic). At higher frequencies, the speaker "breaks up" in radial & concentric modes, vibrating out of phase with each other. All spots of the cone produce all frequencies. (This is why we have high frequency beaming, since the sound producing object is much larger than the wavelength. Huygen's principle.) - As noted above, "speaker breakup" is a misnomer. It is an LTI phenomenon and captured by IRs. It's the jagged response as you get to like 2kHz+. - Speaker IRs are remarkably the same captured quietly vs. loudly. Pushing a speaker for IR captures does not change its response unless you're misusing/destroying it. Fractal Audio has a great post about this in their forum with graphs. The companies that feature "dynamic speaker" stuff like breakup are selling you stuff. People often forget that when they're "pushing the speaker" with guitar amps, they're simultaneously pushing the amp which has orders of magnitude greater non-linear response... that's what's compressing and distorting.

Ive been using one of the liquid 58 bandmaster profiles and despite buying loads of others that was just the one for me - I just got your new IRs to put on it and I instantly liked it even more. Don't know how you do it!

I find the IR arms race exhausting. Everyone says they have the next secret sauce, the next level, etc. I think EQ IR is a more literal title than AiR. At least HW is the most transparent about what he’s offering, most creators just say it’s the super secret best ever IR.

If Kemper were to upgrade the Player, to the same functionality of the full version, for free. I would demand a full refund on my toaster. The bigger chassis would cost $10 in China, so the size is irrelevant.

No snake oil, thats why we made 3 of them free and honestly those are my 3 favorite speakers and my fav mic combo so it's kind of the 3 go to IRs of the pack for me. Check em out and if you like em... Cool!

I think the thing you guys are missing about the Kemper upgrade is the quality of life stuff being locked and the price for that. Also the specific tiers -- the extra blocks requiring the full upgrade. Extra blocks is probably the thing that takes the *least* resources to develop yet it has the highest price attached to it. People don't have a problem with paying for more content. If they sold the simple QOL stuff (extra blocks) for like $50 and the models for the higher premiums, or if they parted all this stuff out a la carte, doubt people would have cared. FWIW, I also think the outrage is stupid. Just don't buy it. It's a market. It is worth discussing the specifics about why it's being received poorly though. It's not the "DLC" issue.

Enough acting like you don’t have checks coming in from big companies. You’re way to vocal about your support for certain brands for me to believe that… it’s so obvious. There’s no way you’re not getting checks from Tesla and Taco Bell!
