One thing they screwed up is the gate finally being able to be pre or post distortion. However, I tried it, and it doesnt make any difference, it is still triggered by the guitar input, it is NOT triggered by the distortion. So high gain sounds still have an issue with quiter notes (divebombs for example) cutting out because the gate triggers by the input no matter what....
@mauriceloeff4532Ай бұрын
The gate is very tricky to get right and 9 out of 10 times unusable to me. It will stutter in and out almost to the point that it becomes it's own effect.. I like the premise of the pedal but the gate and the poor switching between pre-sets (too much of a gap there no matter the switch settings or even with midi switching) makes it a no go for me. I only used it with my amps pre amp and guitar cabinets and the sound on it's own was the best I got from all the modellers though. For high gain it was very good and for cleans / break uo sounds it was a bit less special.
@BlazonStoneАй бұрын
@@mauriceloeff4532 Yeah, the stuttering is because its triggered by the guitar input, if you play with distortion, the gate needs to be moved after distortion so it will allow the full sustain to ring out....

I have Amplitube and Tonex Max but not the pedals. The models sound good, but my gripe is how resource heavy their software is compared to a Neural or ML Sound plugin, or even the new Mixwave Two Rock. The processor load bug is has been an annoying thing they haven't fixed unless it was in this latest update. There's a lot tone-wise to like about the IK stuff, but I'd love to see them improve the user experience and address some inefficient code. Even the IK installer isn't intuitive if you haven't set a directory for it because it will just sit there endlessly if it's set to a directory it can't access

7:17 is the part I do not understand about the tonex sw. why do I have to do the limbo dance with the library drag&drop into the pedal sync? why can’t I just change settings of my current preset? every freaking modeller does it that way. and it’s even more interesting that you’re “selling” it as an advantage that you’re ABLE to edit on the pedal. It’s not an advantage, you HAVE to do it that way in order for the pedal to react to your changes on the fly. If you make changes in the editor you have to first drag&drop the changes you’ve made to the preset over to the pedal. which is just … …. inconvenient. every good modern modeler allows you to make changes to a preset either on the device or in the editor and have it saved immediately and take effect immediately.

IK Multimedia announced on one of their forums that a desktop editor is the next thing on their list after the effects update. Should have been there day one but at least we're getting it.

Not even to mention, there are those of us who just never really need to plug our guitar direct in otherwise. I just want to listen to the audio from the pedal and nothing else. When I open the software, I have to put the pedal in bypass so I can just have a direct signal into the software. Then I have to disable the software and enable the pedal to make sure it still sounds correct, etc. Even my boss katana did this most basic, simple, and intuitive of things. I do love the tonex and I'm in it for the duration, but this is just soooooo ridiculous. I really hope it is coming soon.

I appreciate you saying this - the amp tones are the best, but editing them is so frustrating that I had to put the pedal away. Amazing it has been so successful with such a bad desktop editor

Tonex update is great! The MIDI implementation though needs to be improved imho in these aspects: 1- effects switching should use momentary switch and not a latching one. This currently causes that, depending on the effect status and pedal you need to press the midi switch two times to change the effect on/off status :( 2- There is no way to change macro via midi which is a drag: macro is super useful for solos and you should really be able to switch it via midi, too. Just a couple suggestions to make a great update awesomer!😂

Great as always - concretely ! Was tonex audio recorded across the USB interface from tonex directly to the PC ? Or rather from the Tonex analog output to another interface? How do you rate the quality of TONEX as a guitar interface compared to e.g. Focusrite ? Because personally, I hear a lot more details when connecting headphones directly to Tonex while in LIVE mode than after switching to INTERFACE mode. Does it make sense to buy another interface to use in INTERFACE mode or with Amplitube ?

If i just want a Fender Delux Reverb sound, should i get Tonex or UAF Dream? Are profilers better than good modelers just like IR's are better than old EQ based speaker emulations (like ones in POD HD500 for example) or the difference is more subtle? Using gain knob is important for me, from what i understand the profile is like IR of the amp, so You dont have a real control over it really, only eq.

You don't get the full version of the ToneX software but it has a ton of great captures in that version. @robertbrown2728Ай бұрын
I think it's not really fair to viewers to say that the software needs a few minutes learning. It took me all afternoon to start to get on top of my new tonex one. I think the problem is partly terminology. Terms like "tone model" are confusing when I was expecting to see them listed as captures. Looking at some of the demo videos on KZbin I get the impression that a lot of people don't really understand input trim and global volume. I know that it's up to people to figure stuff out and that you can't make everything for complet e beginners but I do think the software must be amongst the most heavily criticised that I've ever seen. The technology is fascinating and I'm going to persist with it because I'm starting to get wonderful sounds from the pedal but I think it's wrong to pretend that it's easy to figure out.
@HEZ632 ай бұрын
Already made over 3000 Tonex models and hardly ever use them by myself, as long as I have access to the real gear instead. If you are happy with Tonex, ok, but the real gear still is a different league for me, both for recording or live on stage. Up to now I never managed to get exactly the sound, I had adjusted on my amps to a Tonex model, they always differ, more or less. The final sounds could be improved a lot, if IK Multimedia offered more professional post editing and fine-tuning options for creators, but obviously they are not interested in this, as since the first version nothing ever - concerning this - has changed or improved. Big mistake in my opinion, but also a reason to consider not to work with Tonex anymore in the future. Tonex has it's place, like the Kemper system, especially as a cash-cow for IK Multimedia, but there also are reasons, why top-notch players worldwide still use real tube amps instead and also will do this in 10 or 20 years.
