Great video my Brother. You actually use the product in a real life situation. Lots of stuff sound great in a music store sound room but the true test is how it sounds in a real life situation. Thanks again my bro'. Much LOVE from DETROIT.

Comments about how a tube amp would have sounded better than the Tone X made after watching a video recorded on a phone and transmitted across the interweb just show bias. It is impossible to make a fair evaluation. Thanks for making and sharing the video Rich. Also, nice work.

Great video Rich! I'm always amazed by how many songs you know. I wish I could cover just a fraction of them. The drummer has a helluva setup!

Rich, thanks for putting all this work into your content. I for one really appreciate it. I’m an old school tube amp guy, but modelers do have their place in some gigs. Hopefully the FOH/monitor gods smile upon those gigs. Great job!

Rock on my fellow musicians, I tried going silent stage, with iem's but out drummer and lead guitar guy wasn't having it I use modeling for drives and preamps for bass and got a dual Tonex stereo rig for playing guitar, your rig sounds great! had doubts about gigging with the tonex pedal I was using HX stomp in 4cm through PRS mt15 into a captor-x cab sims out to FOH in stereo. I guess it's hard to get used to using no amps or monitors on stage, getting back to playing out after years of not playing. Kudos to you guys who are keeping on making music! You nailed REO!

Sounded awesome, Rich. Sounded about as BIG as the drummer's Kit ! The way Rock N' Roll is supposed to be! 80s big! And the Westcreek killed. What a gorgeous setting, too. Man - I gotta find a way to get out West. Rock on, Bro !

Sounded great Rich! I've been currently using the Boss IR2 amp modler pedal. I love it! Just plug my pedalboard into the PA Mixer, and viola! Awesome pedal! And, saves my aching back too,lol! But, I still use my 60 watt Genz-Benz amp from time to time.

Modelers work fine. The only thing is knowing how to manage the amount of reverb, which changes at home, in the rehearsal room and in the headphones compared to a stage, especially outdoors.

Sounds good to me, cut thru really nice, and the tone sounds authentic..maybe a bit thin, but I understand that there are a lot of mid frequencies going on, and you need to try and squeeze in beside.
@RichBischoff
@RichBischoff Ай бұрын
Right, that's why I feel like it's nice to have some amps also blasting some thickness on stage.

Hey Rich what is your secret to Learning all these set lists with various bands. You could maybe do a video on this. I find it tedious and time consuming. Then I gig with the band and they want you to slot straight in like we’ve played together for years. It’s a challenge and I’m keen to hear how you do it so we’ll.
@RichBischoff
@RichBischoff Ай бұрын
You don't see all the practice and behind the scenes stuff. I'm good at improvisation, but just like anyone else, when learning songs note for note or at least as close as I can, it's a lot of playing them over and over again. This show was the last of several we'd done for the year, and I was just barely starting to feel comfortable with them. Simple answer though, Repetition and time.

Sounds great Rich! Did you use the 2nd channel on the Tonex One, or kept it on the Fender-ish amp and added overdrive with the other pedals?

I use a Tonex at home through my Fender FR12 powered cabinet and I freaking love it. I don’t gig but it would definitely give you the amp on stage feel.

Rich not sure about the tonex you seemed to be completely lost in the mix; your sound wasn’t cutting through. ??
@jamessmith9278
@jamessmith9278 Ай бұрын
I'd say that's probably really much more of an issue with the sound person.
@RichBischoff

That and the fact that it was recorded with my phone.
@tommurrayGTR
@tommurrayGTR Ай бұрын
Isn't that generally an issue with every band that's got synth? Plus if you have a real amp on stage the engineer without fail tells you to turn down. Wouldn't describe this as lost in the mix though, but us guitar players like to be heard from the small detail through to the the big leads and most sound engineers mix the guitar back in the mix so you're mainly heard when/if they boost you for solos (usually a bar after the solo starts😂)

Couple of presets in the HX Stomp for differnt effects, but the TONEX was same amp model for the whole show no changes other than pedals being turned on and off.

To be frank, I dont like the sound of this simulation, no life in it compared to tubes. But it may be because of how the overall PA sound was miked.

Yea I wasn't sure on gigging with modeling till the Helix & fractal, Eleven rack, came out I slowly went all modeling but coming back with hybrid solutions using both tubes & cab sims digital fx in fx loop. But for the audience it don't cut it not hearing the backline amps moving some air, like their playing to a backing track.
