I am not very familiar with the tech behind this, it makes sense that the gain does the same thing as the trim settings, however, I think its a feature for an easy solution to players like me who dont dive too deep into the settings of each amp as long as the playability and tone is right. With input trim properly done I find I can utilize most captures playable right away. Also, fixing this setting also helped me enjoy the tones more as its very cumbersome to go and figure out gain setting of each capture, instead of using a pedal before the amp in the chain. All in all, Thank you for the discussion a real good comparison. :)

All very logical and makes sense.... but... I still wonder why does the IK manual gives different advice to this in terms of the HI/LOW/OK and input trim.... ? Surely IK as the manufacturer know how the pedal is designed and works... so why the difference of approach?

Very useful video Jason, thank you. By the way, why I can listen some clean guitar sound mixed with the high distortion signal, in some high gain presets in tonex, paid and free ones ?

Hi Jason, if the input trim is post DA converter, what's the way to control the input into the Tonex DA converter amd check whether we are clipping?

Jason, on an unrelated topic, is there an application with tonex for acoustic guitars with IRs? If I understand it correctly, some other manufacturers can do impulse responses of different acoustic guitars, martin's, Taylors Etc

I'd also like to see an exploration of instrument body IRs such as 3 Sigma Audio's w/ ToneX

Does anyone know how to save midi in slave mode on tonex every time I change preset it changes back?
